Hi everyone,

Here you can find my final set of black, with white laser etching, Amiga key caps set for mechanical keyboards.

I've redesigned the left and right Amiga keys completely, the right one in particular is as close as I could make it to the original. Reworked Shift, Alt, Tab, Enter, Return arrow and other symbols. Increased the font size for all the letters, redesigned the dollar sign. Moved Help under Screen Lock. I'm very happy with the results.

This set will be present on the X500 Evo cases. Please remember to state the colour of your keyboard.

Also showing a combination of black and beige.

The LEDs behave in the same manner as the LEDs under the beige and white keys.

Price to be announced, they are expensive so the more we order the less we pay.

For those who want a USB standalone keyboard with my Amiga keys in black or white or black/white/beige these are the options:

1) You order just the full key caps set and then apply them to your mechanical keyboard these should be compatible with keyboards using Cherry MX switches (Blue, Red, Brown, Black), keyboard such as:

Filco, CM QuickFire Rapid, Das Ultimate and Ducky

2) you order a complete keyboard.

Photos:

Thank you.

@TheDaddy

Finally, thanks to your effort, full Amiga keyboard is back (as far as I do understand and see, AmigaOne keyboard http://amigakit.leamancomputing.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=973
has no "A keys" instead of CTRL but BoingBags at that place (probably the copyright thingy or unablity to further modify the keyboard as you did).

How much is the full keyboard, its Cherry one used on Evo, right?

@vox

the first set of keys looks aesthetically pretty amigalike, well done.
though i dont see how pair del/help above cursor block could be fitted, actually this part looks just like pc standard, and also the num block is completely lacking amiga layout, again pc standard so far i see. im aware that the del/help block is probably impossible to get done at home, but the numblock might be within the reach. just imho.

Amigakit used stickers to keep the price lower. I'm pretty sure you can have the "A" sticker like Acube sell if you ask them. I prefer what Loriano has made here but I understand why Amigakit chose to use stickers instead.

@wawa

Thanks.

But let me explain:

This IS a "PC" keyboard.
I've not redesigned the "Amiga" keyboard.
One would be mad to attempt such thing.

I've taken a "PC" mechanical keyboard (price range: £70-£190 GBP) and designed a full set of Amiga keys for it by copying each letter and symbol from my A1200 keyboard.

What you do next is the following:

1) Buy a "PC" mechanical keyboard -Filco, Ducky, Das Keyboard etc...
2) Remove the keys
3) Apply these lovely Amiga-like keys which took me months to make
4) Be freaking happy

@TheDaddy

OK, but difference is that you have MADE replacement keys, not stickers.

OK, how much are the keys, and how much is separate keyboard.

@vox

As an example you can buy a Ducky DK2108 Zero with Blue switches (also available are Red, Brown and black) for about £70 (GBP), remove the existing keys and then apply my "Amiga-like" keys.

I'll let you know the price for the keys alone.

It makes sense for people to get just the keys and buy the keyboard themselves (they are heavy and shipping would cost a lot).

Thanks.

Of course.
They are going to be the same as the last and final design, just the colour (all black, black/beige or all white white/beige combinations) will be the difference.

@TheDaddy

Will these require a custom keymap? Given OS4 expects Help on ScrollLock and other usual PC keys.

@TheDaddy

The white/beige one looks very Amiga-like, black is also nice of course .

When and where can I order a full board?

Thanks.

From what I know, all you'll have to do is remap (using Allkeys) the two "A". I've put Help under "Scr L" (above the Home key) on amigakit and ACube's suggestion.

Sorry I can't help more I've no OS4 system to test them with.

I think kyle can help more?!

I'll let you know, keep checking this page. I'm trying to get the best possible price for the caps alone.

At the moment I'm sure I need to order 25 sets for the X500 Evo cases. While I do this I'll order a few extras in case people want them for their mechanical keyboards.

Thanks.

@TheDaddy

Just one small thing, was there a reason to put the "Help" key with the Scroll Lock" key in the black set, rather than on the end key as with the beige/white set?

The plan was to keep it with End but I was then told that it's better to have it where Scroll Lock is when using OS4. I think that is what amigakit did with their keyboards. I am sure there is a technical reason.
