Hello guys.

This is the Amiga I plan to sell. I've bought it in 1994 [A1200] but then keep upgrading hardware up to 2004 [with total of 10.000 DEM [Deutsche Marks] investment / around 5.000€]:

* Amiga 1200 [with motherboard "revision 2b" - to work with a Prelude soundcard]

* Big Tower with custom cooloer [that cools BVision graphic card]

* PowerPC 603e / 166mhz with 060/50 MHz chip,

* Blizzard Vision 8 MB gfx card
Prod=8512/69($2140/$45)
BaseName=BVisionPPC
CardID=12($c) Number=1($1)
Developed by phase5 digital products

* 160 MB RAM memory [2 simms with 128MB and 32MB]

* 5.1 GB Hard Disk [with OS3.9 system / DOpusMagellan2 + various software installed & ready to use]

* 8x4x32 NEC 7500A CDRW

* external 56K U.S. Robotic Modem

* NEC 100 MB ZIP driver with ZIP disks

* HD Rack W/ 20 GB PC formatted HD

* MIDI device

* Prelude1200 16-bit soundcard

* COCOLINO PS/2 MOUSE ADAPTER with a PC Mouse
http://amigakit.leamancomputing.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=88

* Lyra 2 Keyboard Interface (A1200) with a PC keyboard
http://amigakit.leamancomputing.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=207

* 19" Hansol monitor

* All power, connection and other cables

* Over 150 DVDs with Amiga software, demos, pictures and videos [from various magazines] and all manuals I can find here

* Problems:

- Sometimes Cocolino PS/2 Mouse Adapter looses contact if there are lots of movements in the background of the case. But moving it around a bit - everything brings back to normal.

- To open a case - you will have to open it up to 50%, remove power that goes from HD Rack to Big Tower Cooler and then you will be able to open it 100%

- To make system boots: press power button and hold it for a 2 seconds. System boots once in a 2-3 times just because I've added Boot kickstart 3.1 to preload into the rom when turning on Amiga for the 1st next time.

Other than that - system works great & has lots of programs preinstalled & ready to use.

Price: $999 + Postage Delivery

@djnick

Could I ask why you have to sell such an amazing classic set-up?

Simple - I have two Amigas - SAM460ex that I will use and I don`t need old Amiga anymore. There is not just enough room / space for all 3 computers. And all stuff is copied / backupped from my old Amiga.

Fair enough... similar reason why I sold off my A1200 - but now somewhat regret it...

True Classic + PPC beast.

Time to depart from old friend so much sweat and money was invested in ...

Hope it will not all be blown by costs of family life (even Maxim deserves it)
and some will be saved for that X2000 and onward ...

Use System section
http://amigaworld.net/modules/classifieds/index.php?pa=view&cid=6

Or if you also sell in parts, hardware
http://amigaworld.net/modules/classifieds/index.php?pa=view&cid=1

Surely, there are similar sections on A.org, Amigans.net ... you could place a deadline
and take best offers. But mind that Pay Pal paying to account in Serbia does not (yet) work,
so bank transfer or pay pal middle man ....

Great. Thank you all. I feel sorry to sell it [my whole life started on it], but - no room, it collects dust... and is great piece of history!

Today I managed to finally boot with [PC] mouse [attached to adapter] - system works great [and fast]. 060 ppc bvision is really excellent solution, even today [of course, with my system modifications, as I have OS3.9 and Magellan installed].

I have shoot some good images today, I will post them here soon... Page Stream, ArtEffect... everything - works... :) :( :S

I love SAM460 but can`t work anything on it [except browse net] for now. I hope something will change soon.

@djnick

If you had this OS4 capable classic PPC system for so many years back, then why did you ask people to pay you for a new SAM just so you could create OS4 themes?
You could have just installed OS4 for classics and gone to work right away.

Let me get this straight - you already owned a machine that could have run AmigaOS 4.1, but failed to mention that when the community was collecting money to buy you hardware. This way you ended up with a Sam460 for 850 Euro, instead of a copy of OS 4.1 for 120 Euro?

Bold move.

Here's a whacky idea: how about you donate your old PPC system to somebody else? Or sell it and donate the money?

At least you could have the decency to sell it somewhere else.

OS4 on my Classic PPC sys will require new HD [or partition] + BVision is slow for casting drop-shadows of the windows [which I like how it looks].

Other than that - why I would do it for free? My working time costs ~50$ / hour. In exchange for a SAM I do it all for "free".

I do not understand IF you understand me or you are pretending not to understand me. My working time costs. I didn`t get SAM for free. I got it in exchange for my working time.

Other than that - PPC Amiga can`t connect to WiFi [or I would have to invest to another clock-port mess and will lose a soundcard].

Imagine, he had an Amiga Classic he was upgrading since 90s.
And it is in working condition. That alone is a miracle, and now
is at everyone disposal to buy needed parts or system. Some of which are
verry interesting and if I had Classic I would desire them.

Is there anything wrong there?

You're perfectly within your rights to sell this, don't worry. A Blizzard PPC is a nice OS 3 machine but a limited OS 4 one. Yes, it runs, and it runs nicely, but if I had to do full productivity work I'd want more than a 160MHz PPC with no L2 cache and 256MB RAM max.

You do work for OS4, and we paid you for that by donating an OS4 machine. Seems fair enough to me!

I think the issue is that some people thought the only reason you didn't have an OS4.1 machine for testing your themes was that you couldn't afford one. Now it looks like that wasn't the case and those who may have understood it that way are feeling hard done by.

Fair enough, you're entitled to charge what you like for the work you do, but that should be understood by all parties involved. My time costs similar to yours as an engineer and firmware developer, yet sometimes I do some engineering and development work for free. You don't always have to be paid for your time.

@Daedalus
I know what you mean, but I doubt Nick count on working 18 hours on OS4 themes/etc. and then quit or ask for further funding. So there will be plenty of free work as well.
I guess you know how it is when you have something you'd like (even can afford) but where you really can't justify the cost as you know money probably would be better spend on your family, car, house etc... At least thats the reason I'm still stuck with my A1 XE from 2004 but then I don't have any talent to offer the community in exchange for a new board

Absolutely. And given that I did not contribute to the bounty and haven't tried out his work yet I don't have a strong opinion either way. I can certainly see both sides to the argument, but I also think he should be a little more sensitive, flashing around things like his hourly pay. No doubt many people who contributed to the bounty earn far less than that per hour, and I just thought it seemed a little rude, not to mention mercenary.

As an aside, I can hardly imagine how many hundreds of hours I've spent on work on Amiga-related projects - hours which could otherwise be spent on more financially rewarding things - although my limited talents mean that there are only a few (albeit relatively popular) apps out there to show for it. But if I were to think to myself that all those hours equate to X Euro I could have earned instead, I probably wouldn't be able to sleep at night.

LOL

Now, just wait for the final piece of the puzzle: when his Sam goes on sale too.

Though I bet we are going to hear from some people: It's his right to do so / he has already spent a significant amount of money on the machine anyway / he worked so hard for the (one) theme / he even examined an installation script / he spend countless hours until he got the system booting / it's not his fault that there are no decent gfx tools..

Its all apples and pears to me.

Like comparing an old banger to an old motor.

How anyone can find productivity in the old range is beyond me.
