i wonder who's gonna port that for AmigaOS.

really cool specs but i wonder how the performance is, any speed compare tests 2.0 vs. 1.x done on other platforms?

It's about time the updated it, looks good.

I certainly won't be attempting to port it to Classics though, I tell you that much

@Toaks

I would imagine that if app used OpenGL, it will be about as fast as before. Surface-based apps look different. Now we should use textures (old surface can be copied to a texture) and SDL 2.0 then draws textures (HW accelerated if possible), possibly handling scaling etc some boring stuff on the background. http://wiki.libsdl.org/moin.fcg/MigrationGuide

No idea who will port the library but at least I will download sources as soon as possible. Hopefully there are others who might be interested to work on this?

@Mr_Capehill

If you are able to help or even better to update SDL to latest version you can always join the SDL AmigaOS4 team

@Mr_Capehill

Well it would be nice if 3d worked. Or any hardware acceleration. But how many games/programs are using SDL2 to make it worth while?

Not sure if I get your point but SDL2 AmigaOS 4 supports already 3 different hardware accelerations.

@Mr_Capehill

That's a good start. How recent is the build? My point was whenever I tested GL in SDL I got corrupt gfx and/or crashes. So had to fallback to the slow software rendering.

I also heard of some SDL2 issues with some games not working or displaying correctly. But hopefully that's now fixed.

@Hypex

There is a bug tracker in SF if you have a problem report for SDL2.

@Mr_Capehill

You also should know that all reports from Hypex done on some old version of os4.1 . If i remember right its 4.1 update 6 or something more older. So once he say something wrong / corrputed (expecially graphic corruption, as we all know how much was done in graphics.library in last versions) , or didn't works as expected , you should know that he on probably very old version of os4 and his bug reports can be his own fault of not being updated :)

@kas1e

You're starting to sound slightly obsessed with always running the latest updates. Not all OS4 people would have the latest and a few would OS4.1 pre-FE like some friends of mine. As well some people just don't like updating all the time. Windows and Android have made updates an obsessive taboo. In any case every OS version will have some bugs. Whether that affects a third party graphic library that may or may not use an incomplete or buggy 3d rendering library is down to testing.

@Hypex
Just when you made _any_ report of _any_ software, don't forget to say you don't use latest os.

Why i am nitpicking about : because i , as betatester, know how much was chanegs even in just last update. Not saying how much changes in last one + first before. A lot of changes in graphics.library.

So, any your report with "i have corruption" or whatever else, can be skipped most of time, or takend with no big attention, as you can have your own bugs because of your "i am not want to update" mantra :) We not microsoft, and every update of os fix _critical_ bugs, its not just service pack type.

But to be honest i do not care what os you use, i just care about developers who spend their time on wrong bugreports. They should know that you don't update, so no bug reports from you should be concider , sorry :)
