Tried a newbie cross compile of the Cruxppc 2.6.36.4 kernel from Cruxppc CD 2.7rc1 using Denx cross compiler as outlined on Mario Locati's web site.Would not compile .
The recompiled kernel on this CD works but does not have all the modules .

A Long story. I was not aware of the CruxPPC kernel until I found the ISO looking for configuration and patch files .The Crux kernel does not have the modules . this may be why graphics performance is better with the Older kernel than the CruxPPC one. Also neither of these kernels is new enough for anything beyond Squeeze. With a fresh install of Squeeze I have not been able to get all of the simple packages required to even attempt a native kernel compile. May have messed up the sources.list. I am trying to download the full Debian Squeeze 6.07 PPC DVD to get the packages. There is not even a proper CD install for Squeeze for the Sam440ep machines. I had to create my own custom CD based on a early Lenny CD. It works with a bit of fiddling to install a base system. After that it sets up the bootstrap files with ease.

as i know CRUX PPC distro was the only one to support Sam boards. If you read some crux docs you'll see you have to build your own kernel during the installation therefore iso bootkernels don't have drm or sound support.

3.10.13 kernel compiles and boots. Gnome up and running . framebuffer working with radeon HD4850 Sound and network working, DRM not working properly. GPU acceleration is disabled . Will try to Enable mode setting on radeon in config.

Think that I got the uRamdisk sorted out. It boots with my modified version . My Internet is down so cant test every thing yet. Will make a new network install disk in the mean while.
