Amiga 5000 would be appropriate but that will not be possible (we all know why) |

Yes, perhaps "Amiga" is the problematic. (if it's done by community, I doubt community resist, but sure some "name" owners might think otherwise)
I wonder if writing it as "Amiga5000" would be ok.
But BiggerMig would also make sense and suite nicely, because minimig legacy! Last edited by KimmoK on 04-Jul-2014 at 10:47 AM.

For an Amiga like 1200 form factor, I would probably like to see it named Amiga 1400. It just feels like the worthy successor...
So basically..
Amiga 1200 to Amiga 1400 (AAA Enhanced, 060 80Mhz+ (preferably 200Mhz), 256Mb+, Indivision3, Midi)
Amiga 4000 to Amiga 5000
Would be fab I think...

I do not believe that. You cannot name your new car BMW999, it would certainly still violate the brand. "Amiga" in any form is dead I think. |

I have no idea why users ask each other about naming conventions.
All you have to do is write to Darren B. Cohen and explain what your project is and ask your questions.

| It seems that the Natami site is down at the moment. Hope this is only temporary?
Well, I know the project has stalled, but there's still some interesting stuff to read on the forum - info that should be preserved for the future...

it is already unavailable for a couple of days without any informations. In worst case they might have put it down. The domain is still active as far as I know.
If you are interested in FPGA related stuff look at: http://www.amigacoding.de
most former natami-members are there active now (and others) Last edited by OlafS25 on 01-Aug-2014 at 12:19 PM.

Thanks, I'll check it out.
I hope someone has made a back-up of the Natami site if they have shut it down. I think the forum should still be available to the public - as "read only" at least. Last edited by Jeano on 01-Aug-2014 at 02:24 PM.

the admin should have. But I have no informations about it. It would (sadly) not be the first site with many informations that vanishes without any comment from one day to another |

What we need is 2 machines :
#1 50 USD - Cheap developer FPGA classic OCS/ECS compatible system so developers can get access to cheap hardware.
#2 100 USD system for public.
The second system needs build in such a way that different processors can be used, ARM/x86/MIPS/ ??? - 100 years from now.
What is hardware in 50 years time ? 64 bit ? 128 bit processor ?
Whatever Processor we use, call it Processor N - developer a hardware independent JIT to 68k.
Processor N Module, hardware pluginable that attaches to a JIT compatible FEED to 68k.
Each CORE of processor N - accelerates different parts eg TCP IP, audio. A Processor N core could control parts of GFX eg layers 1-4 2nd Processor N core could control GFX layers 5-10 3rd Processor core control AI in games 4th Processor core use for cryptographic functions. 5th Processor core copy upto long words to mem 6th Processor core copy VLIW etc.
prioritize cording how many core you have. We want each core dedicated to different tasks, but GFX all go through OpenCL.
Think of a situation we have say 4 mali chips on the motherboard each have 4 core and GPUs.
Hardware does not matter if the infrastructure is there to handle any Processor/GPU combination.
We can then swap processors as they become available same with Graphics, we may take performance hit, but processors and GFX is getting faster and faster each year - we just plug in the cheapest and rock ' n roll :)
NOTE: Even today the PC world is lacking a VGA compatible Open Source Graphics CARD , Can A VGA and SAGA GFX card exist cheap for everyone to use in the millions ?

I was really hoping not to hear the term "Natami" again. And for those who still believe I have a "BOXXER" motherboard to sell them!

| @asymetrix,
As long as I can upgrade to a faster modern fpga accelerator for my classics from this project, I'm all in.

| Its about time it went offline. Unless they are updating the site for Thomas's proposed natami mark 2.
I think it will take an age for anything to materialize if its a one man show. |

Think you have a bigger chance of buying a ticket to mars then buying a natami (someday).
But we can still hope. |

Awesome, I was not aware of the Suska project, pretty cool that there is a feature complete 68030 in FPGA. I wonder MikeJ knows this. _________________ B5D6A1D019D5D45BCC56F4782AC220D8B3E2A6CC |

What, did I make you vomit? You do not see how a feature rich implementation of 68030 in FPGA can be usefull also for Amiga users? Btw, that site also sells SCSI based SD card adapters, which is pretty cool for Amiga computers too. _________________ B5D6A1D019D5D45BCC56F4782AC220D8B3E2A6CC |
