After so many years, I'm pleased to announce that a playable demo of "The Secret of Middle City" is now in the hands of qualified alpha testers.

More news to come.

Best regards

Hello, everybody

after a few weeks of intense work we finally came out with a new version of the product. At present time the team is concentrating on the desktop edition (all platforms), leaving the Android version for later on.

The reason of this choice is to favor long time point'n'click players, who are used to interact with a proper, context changing, mouse pointer.

Here is a screenshot of the new version. Thanks to the testers already involved for their valuable ongoing support.

None in particular!

Hollywood has a very efficient rendering engine which requires very low system resources.

Alpha code has been successfully tested on AmigaOS4.1.x, Windows 7, Windows 8 and MacOS X (intel core).
We are experiencing some minor issues (sound related) on some old Win XP systems which lack in RAM (usually around 1GB).

I guess I can safely say that TSMC virtually runs on anything

Android version requires at leat a 2.3 OS. It shouldn't be a problem since we are already at 4.2

Best regards
Gianluca

@Seiya

Sadly, I don't have an OS3 machine on which to start testing.

As for AROS, I'll try my best to set up a proper enviroment once I reach a stable Beta state.

The player character looks a bit too much like an American game show host for my liking. Good work and looking forward to seeing the finished product.

Here are a few screenshots just to keep you updated on the current status of the project.

Pictures shows the revised dialog system which features comics-like bordered balloons, that are now dynamically resized depending on the contained text.

Graphics works are still in progress, and anti-aliased scaling is not working at this time. It will be taken care of before release.

Aside from that, the code seems to be stable and responsive. In addition, new comic-like interlude sections have been added to further explain the story main plot.

A new extended demo, sporting the entire chapter one is now being built. Testers will receive the archive in a matter of days.

Best regard
g0blin

@MichaelMerkel
Yes, shadows will be added asap.

@Olaf25
Graphics and sound (mp3) are pretty heavy, so I don't know if I'll be able to make it work on classics.
But tests on emulated enviroment are already planned. Hollywood can compile for OS3, so let's hope for the best.

Best regards

Hi all,

after a couple of more months of work, TSMC main engine looks more stable and performing.

At the moment 5 of the 9 chapters of the game have been implemented and are undergoing the betatest program.

New locations have been drawn and added to the game, and new artworks are been developed as chapter-to-chapter transition.

A few issues about memory consumption have been raised, and tests are in progress to optimize memory occupancy thus making the game suitable for old or entry-level systems.

Unfortunately, "Classic" systems are still out of the range at the moment, but will see if something can be done about them in the near future.

Enjoy the screenshots.

Cheers
g0blin

@g0blin

This is looking like a wonderful project. It looks like lots of hard work. Very excited to see the final result when released.

Don't forget for a classic Amiga release you can provide Prisma music card support for mp3 or OGG file playback. Latest Prisma drivers can be controlled through Arexx so ideal for Hollywood integration.
