| It would be good to get an update from A-EON. Things are so quiet on the Amiga scene right now. It would be good to get clarification of a rough release date and prospective pricing. Will it come with a software bundle and will it be under £1500? Will SMP (multi-core support) be supported out of box? It feels like waiting for an A-Box or Boxer or Troika computer at the moment _________________ "Art challenges technology. Technology inspires the art." | When 12/24core qoriq development system costs eur1500, cyrus+ should not be much more expensive....

Will be yet another product that will fail to grow the userbase then since no one can really afford that thing. Shows what a bad idea it was to stick with the now dead ppc platform that goes nowhere. |

I don't foresee a x86 Amiga growing the platform any quicker. A perfect blend of software and PPC hardware for under £1500 with a new version of Photogenics/Deluxe Paint/Pagestream & TurboPrint would have sold it for me. £1,000 with Hollywood, Blender & Odyssey installed as standard wouldn't go amiss either. _________________ "Art challenges technology. To my understanding the eur1500 development board is designed, produced and sold by third party (and sold also by Freescale). The interesting thing is that it is available in larger volumes as well, unlike normal/traditional development boards. _________________ - KimmoK // For freedom, for honor, for AMIGA // // Thing that I should find more time for: CC64 - 64bit Community Computer? |

| The Cyrus project has been lots of hard work to get to this stage.
Hardware is completely finished with Linux up and running. Current work is ongoing on the firmware and getting AmigaOS and drivers ported to it. We need the SATA, ethernet and USB drivers to be ported, so long way to go yet. The amount of work to get these systems to market is formidable as we have seen with the AmigaONE X1000.
The main emphasis of A-EON this year is developing more software for the AmigaONE X1000. AMIStore app store will be supplied to all X1000 users and pre-installed on new Cyrus systems in the future.

Seriously, that board is 1500 $ and A-eon/Hyperion are not suppotting it? Why waste precious money and time in making a slower CPU, more expensive board. OK, so it's a little short on PCIe, but so is SAM460... _________________

| @thread...
I have not heard that development boards had been used to get AOS4 running on e5500 or PA6T before designing new board for it.
Perhaps sanity kicks in and e6500 based board is not designed before AOS4 allready runs on existing development system?
(I do not yet have prices for T1022 OR T2080 development boards, hopefully soon they become public any way)
I wonder how huge bounty would be required to get AOS4 booting on some Txxxx development board. (or on the TYAN Power8 board) Last edited by KimmoK on 24-Apr-2014 at 12:26 PM.

This board is also available from Nexcom in production volumes. For more information, visit nexcom.com/#QorIQ.
Unfortunately, nexcom doesn't have a direct link to buy the board, you have to contact their sales department.
Specs are listed in same fact sheet. Basically what I've been advocating as feature set It won't have a lot of PCIe ports, but if an SB600 (like in the X1000) was put on a card and used in the x4 slot, one could have a healthy amount of x1 PCIe ports downstream from that again. |
I'm very curious about this myself. But I'm too picky for my own good. Only one PCI bracket in rear, the second one is not available. Nexcom's datasheet shows a miniPCI-Express instead of a x4 slot. Which might only be an adaptor. All other ports are on the front - USB, ethernet, etc. Odd. Maybe useful for their sort of thing as a big router or switch, but odd for us weirdo desktop PPC users. Not convenient to get audio, other USBs, etc. out from the card with a big Graphics card plugged in. Freescale's picture of the board shoes an actually x8 slot, so we'd need to cut it or something for a graphics card to fit. Grrr.
The more I read up on this kit, the more I wish they had done a ComExpress module to plug into their carrier motherboard for other QorIQ parts (Sure that doesn't break out all ports of T4240...)
Also pondering whether to burn my tax refund on the bigger T4240QDS... But that's a lot, and really one should wait until Olegil's hypotheticalSouthbridge board would be made. Last edited by billt on 25-Apr-2014 at 06:44 PM.

Publishing on FB or via Twitter is much easier if you don't know HTML.
AEon's own page looks quit wasted compared to all the 3rd party pages used by them._________________ AmigaONE. Haha. Just because you can put label on it does not make it Amiga.

It has onboard Ethernet, just boot into Linux! IMHO, if the code exists already in (an open source) one OS, it should be able to be ported to another. |

Exactly, they already have a website so they might as well use that plus they're a computer company so someone there knows HTML .
In regards to FB & Twitter generally, some of us have lives outside of the web and prefer to make real friends without collecting pseudo ones on FB & Twitter (I don't view AmigaWorld in the same light as we have a shared hobby) . Admittedly they seem to be of use to contact friends/family that now live abroad but other than that it seems that most people use FB to brag about how great their lives are or tell us what they had for dinner! Seriously one Christmas update letter is enough to tolerate from most people never mind 365 days of the drivel!! _________________ "Art challenges technology. Technology inspires the art." btw.: it seems some the FB & Twitter channels are no official Hyperion or A-Eon channels at all.
The disclaimers could tell more maybe they are less official then this: http://www.amigaos.net/content/88/website_________________ AmigaONE. Haha. Just because you can put label on it does not make it Amiga.
