I think there will always be people who are interested in well architected, unique computers, which give you the controls, instead of the computer controlling what you do with it.

Have you tried Odyssey browser for Youtube? That's what I'm using.

@logicalheart

I use quite normal 1.24 for MorphOS.

It worked flawlessly upto 3 days ago when youtube instead of showing the videos begun answering with "unkown protocol" pop-up window, or continuing stopping and prompting me with annoying choice window "connection timed out" continuously!

@Ancalimon

It once again disolves back into being just an unknown or rare Spanish word no ones heard of in English speaking countries and confuse it with some watch brand that may or may not still be around.

I'm curious what you mean by 'or worse'. You're not using Windows 8, are you?

I have it on a laptop but not using it. Still.. you can tell that I'm not using it because there is no problem with space and time continuum.

Are you saying Windows 8 is worse than being rained on after your death?

@Ancalimon

That's what museums are for.
As technology continues to accelerate and as we move into the third computer revolution, all of what you know as computers today will be seen as rudimentary and limiting, even the most advanced PC, tablet, or smartphone today, will be seen as a waste of time and space.

Our grandchildren will think us silly for romanticising a time when to use a computer meant to actually operate a computer directly with primitive inputs such a keyboards and mouses. By mid 21st century, the Amiga will be closer to the ENIAC than any contemporary computing device.

Sandra Bullock will be the only one who will be decorating her apartment with all of this late 20th and early 21st century crap.

And the future generations will go on with their day never wondering why the international symbol for 3D computer animation is a red and white chequered ball.

@agami

Amiga is different. You can say that for old PCs or even Macintoshes.. iPhones, tablets... But Amiga (and C64) are really different.

Most of us aren't using Amiga's because we are nostalgic. It's more about "achieving things". :)

Not really. I'm saying that the fact that the universe still exists is a clear sign that I'm not using Windows8 :P

@So what happens to Amiga when it's over for

The dead horse flies with me.
(a'la phase5 illustration)

(Then I hope my kids know that there at least was an alternative way.)

Not at all related, but is this a ClassicAmiga towerized in PC/ATX tower: (or is it x86 powered M$ device)

My one and four year old Amigagirls make sure of it.

Hadn't you read the bible? Once we'll be all dead, Amiga will come back again.

Now be careful there. Does it really exist, or are we just looking at an event horizon (from the inside) that shows the last known universe before we shrank into nothingness?

Kids share enthusiasm of their parents until they can think for themselves. Its more of a bonding experience, with children excited by their parents enthusiasm than anything to do with the hobby itself. Chances are those who share their amiga hobby with their children are actually ensuring that once they hit their teens they'll be even less interested than those who arent exposed to it (every teen knows better than their parents, ergo rebel against their parents interests).

That said there'll always be people who appreciate the merrits of what has come before. In terms of computing 80's and early to mid 90's computers was a breeding ground for how things evolved, and was less sterile than today (not just amiga, even pcs of that time are interesting, along with c64, speccy, etc.), so there'll always be people that are interested. Being able to directly control hardware rather than using a hal, api, etc. is something that'll always have an audience. There's kits out there even for people to make their own z80 machines sold cheaply nowadays, and that hobby/market will evolve as well (not to mention things like fpga).

Ok. Sorry for this test. KB works with the Amiga, next lets see the pc as having a kb switcher.

Children are very, very keen what their parents do. As a car hobbyist too the girls are fans. Alltough they can decide what to do. It's just better to show what was, not just play a dvd and leave them there;)

Sorry, but no they're not. They're only different for US, the people who grew up with them. The rest couldn't care less about some ancient piece of junk.
