All around the web, we can find articles talking about Amiga and Amigans.

One article just appeared on the major online Italian Magazine Hardware Upgrade.
The article is in italian, but seems the words comes from an English Amiga Blog.

http://binarydoodles.wordpress.com/

It's nice to see that many Amigans still around. Some of them may come back to Amiga Next Gen.

It's a nice thought but, speaking only for myself, seems increasingly unlikely with every passing month.

I still have several Amiga-like machines, including my EZTowered 1200, A1XE and Peg1, and I keep them because I tell myself that one day I'll have enough time to develop something useful.

Even my little iOS and Android projects never seem to get completed.
And I at least know what I want to do with them but they're mobile specific so no point in trying to develop on AOS.

Perhaps if I had an idea for an Amiga programme, I might have the motivation to get back into it but, alas, my idea factory is a barren, desolate place these days.

@AmigaBlitter

Other unlikely folks that were Amiga users,

Allen H. Blum III and George Broussard of Apogee (aka 3D Realms)

George got an Amiga 1000 at launch day and Allen got into developing games due to his interest in making graphics on the Amiga.

They both used Amiga's to make a number of classic DOS games.
Notably, Duke Nukem. If I recall right Allen really preferred the Amiga over PC's for the Duke Nukem games because of the high resolution deplay modes compared to EGA's 320x200. perfect for the level editor
(Link found)

George ripped numerous tiles from Amiga games such as Turrican for use in Duke 1 and 2 Link
Last year he celebrated the 'international Amiga day'.

@Robert

Hey Robert, can you share what projects you have started and what's stopping you from completing them?

@all

got some ideas, should we do a community wish list for apps, like doable, not the extremely complex programs.. i could write my 10 wishes for programs, i know we have different developer & donation sites serving for this proposes, but why not give some idea of what people wish for..

@mod

maybe this deserves a new tread, please move it if you want

@Trewq

Then I wonder why an Amiga version wasn't produced? Weren't they 2d back then? Would have been good for us.

@Robert

Maybe you could do like I suggested on Amiga.org (alias; Niding).

Downfall development progress was quite intresting to follow.
I do realise that people might be apprehensive to going public with a "in development" thread since real life might stop you dead in your tracks etc, but I think pretty much everyone reading AW and A.org realise most people on this/these platforms do so on their free time.

Not if you want to see something actually made. I'd rather see people start doing something themselves. If you want a certain kind of program, do it yourself.

@Minuous

Already been done!! and points to a website that now doesn't exist :)

I did plan to recreate NATW, but someone (years back) said it was still being maintained.

@Minuous

i was not aware of this site at all, never seen it.. but thats exactly my point, sites like this do exist, but not known or used, but too give some wishes here on amigaworld, it may give some boost in motivation for developments. and user could follow the projects here or the developers blog or something. just mention it since most users only visit community sites like this

@AmigaBlitter

binarydoodles is MY blog :) I moved recently from ilCannocchiale to Wordpress and, to reboot i decided to host the history of the game Powder, which I worked on with friends in the nineties; then cdimauro (that is a writer onAppuntiDigitali and one of the coders of Fighting Spirit) referred me to AD and i prepared a translation that is published first there!

Other than that, am into AROS as well even if lately did not write too much on topic being busy in real life but things are improving.

The Powder diaries (original headline, changed by AD staff in italian) has been written in english first for the binarydoodles blog so if interested check that version first.

I like AROS 68k because it allows next-gen software to be backported to Classics including AROS x86 features. What do you think about that? (Now where did I leave that AmigaOne that I never use? Oh yes. I left it in a box in the storage unit.)

Also, I've recently joined the Apollo Team as a future graphics driver programmer. Once fully upgraded, the Apollo Team's FPGA-based accelerator cards should make my A1200 run as fast as a SAM 440 series machine.

68060 1 GHz class performance? Wow!

You're thinking of the 460. I'm thinking of the 440. More like half what you said and maybe a little under that even. I won't speculate on the graphics throughput of having all memory recognized as Chip RAM though. (Assuming that all goes well. Pure speculation at this point otherwise. Don't call vaporware on me yet.)

Wow, thanks, that was so necessary and mature.
Especially considering that 'Amiga next gen' is often meant AmigaOS 4, MorphOS and AROS.

440EP 666 MHz was in my mind. There are many applications you can use to benchmark your CPU (dnetc, lame, ffmpeg, Quake, Doom etc.).

Eg. OGR-NG (dnetc):
68060 50 MHz: 255,316.00
440EP 666 MHz: 6,413,294.00 (68060 1250 MHz class performance in this benchmark )

Is FPU part of that new 68k core?
