| I have an A4000T with XSurf100 and an A1200 with a wireless PCMCIA card.
Is it possible to network these two and share directories?
There is a usb port which I can connect a harddrive to on my router. Maybe it could be possible to use that drive? Last edited by Ancalimon on 18-Jul-2014 at 08:11 PM.

Envoy is a good piece of software, Amiga native.
I've had it working on 3x A1200, 1x A600 and a WinUAE(A1200) all in one go

I also used NetFS and found it to be useful. You can also do FTP but you will need to setup a server like rcFTPd. And for the life I've of me I never figured out how to enable write access to my RAM Disk. This is the pro0blem of these tools being based in Unix and not Amiga. I'd like an Amiga only sharing system that is easy to use and also picks up drives when a machine is online. |

For the drive plugged into your router, you should be able to use SMBFS - I use it all the time with my Amigas. Running Samba server on a classic is possible too but in my experience very slow. Perhaps you could get away with simply having a shared folder on the network drive that suits all your needs? Unfortunately this way you'll lose Amiga-specific file attributes, such as protection bits etc.
To share drives on one or both of your Amigas I'd recommend something like RC-FTPd on the server and FTPMount on the other. Much faster than Samba and with much lower overheads too. _________________ RobTheNerd.com | InstallerGen | SMBMounter | Atoms-X |

It's a shame that Envoy isn't still readily available, or developed. |

True, I think it was only softhut that had some in stock before they went down. I think my disk is questionable, as I got it from an Amiga I bought locally. I did start to look into packet sniffing the communication as I thought could be good to have a PC server for envoy, but file systems are not my forte.
