It should be spinning.... probably plug came dislodged.
I have my X1000 stuffed with graphics cards and other cards (GPU cards produce most heat) and lots of hard drives. The temp definitely climbs without the exhaust fan and a test some entity did with Fractal Design tower case (don't have link handy but can find later) demonstrated that the exhaust fan is more important than the front intake fan at removing heat.
Check and see if the power plug to the fan came loose.

as others have noted it's just most likely a loose connection while you were installing your new SSD drive & messing about in your X
btw, since your're opening your case again I recommend you take this plastic section off your side cover..see why on this thread (solution on post # 14)
