| For some reason I've been in a nostalgic mood lately. Yesterday I actually caught myself longing for some Fifth Dimension (if you're too young to know what that is, Google it). I set up my Amiga 2000 for the first time in years and I'm planning on playing some 30-year-old games. I wanted to play Faery Tale Adventure. When I tried it on the latest version of WinUAE (2.8.1), the sound was garbled. It's also garbled on my real Amiga 2000. I downloaded a fresh ROM from somewhere and it's garbled, too. I may set up an Amiga 1000 and try it on that. Has anyone experienced garbled sound when running Faery Tale Adventure? _________________ X5000 / microA1(OS4.1 FE U2) / CodeBench / Imagine / Blender Lightwave 2019 / Microsoft Visual C++ |

I've not had problems with garbled sound, but I can't remember if I was running on FS-UAE or DOSBox. I'll try it when I get home...

| @thinkchip,
Double-check your AHI settings, maybe something not set right.

I tried the game on a stock Amiga 500 and got the same results. The garbling goes away after about 30 seconds. It sort of fixes itself. I'm trying to remember if it always did this. I wonder if the game requires more chip RAM or less CHIP ram or something. I'm still invesigating. _________________ X5000 / microA1(OS4.1 FE U2) / CodeBench / Imagine / Blender Lightwave 2019 / Microsoft Visual C++ |

I'm having the same problem running it with FS-UAE 2.2.3 on Linux Mint 13. There's all this squeaking and crashing until near the end of the "Julian" screen, then it clears up. I upgraded FS-UAE to version 2.4.1, but this did not help. I tried various combinations of Chip RAM and Fast RAM, but this did not help either. It seems like it might be related to disk loading activity.
Semi-off-topic observation: FS-UAE seems to be developing into a rather nice virtual Amiga. _________________ "Unix is supposed to fix that." -- Jay Miner |
