| Hi, I have a little problem which is probably easy for you guys. I installed WarpView some time ago, and used it for a while but now i want to uninstall it, remove it completely. but how? i tried to delete the files manually, but the registration message during boot still appears, tried and install FastView with the new datatypes, but warpview requester still apears. how do i revert to the original os4.1 datatypes, and removing warpview completely.
sorry for this stupid question, i'm sure it is easy.. _________________ nox's in the house! |

Not WarpView, WarpDT (or WarpDataTypes).
I do not remember how to uninstall them (since I'm still using them). If I remember correctly, older datatypes have been saved and can be restored manually. _________________ PowerMac G5 2,7Ghz - 2GB - Radeon 9650 - MorphOS 3.14 AmigaONE X1000, 2GB, Sapphire Radeon HD 7700 FPGA Replay + DB 68060 at 85Mhz |

| @noXLar I don't use WarpDT and can't help you but just a precision about
"tried and install FastView with the new datatypes"
FastView doesn't install new datatypes. It only install new def_icons for differents pictures formats.
FastView uses the Datatypes that are availables on the system.

| @noXLar Got the same problem!! Solved by booting from os4 cd and then copy the original datatype from the cd to the hd

| @noXLar The datatypes in OS4.1 are all based on older versions of the wapdt datatypes, as such I would personly just pay the £15 and register them as they licences allows you to install them on any amiga you own that supports dataypes including using them under WinUAE and MorphOS.
There are not very many Amiga software developers that support all the main Amiga and clone platform with native binaries.
But if you do want to uninstall them you just need to delete all the datatypes listed here http://www.warpdt.co.uk/ from devs:Datatypes and sys:classes/datatypes plus the preferences program from prefs: , then reinstall the standard ones from your OS4.1 CD.
WarpView is now totally free so you can reinstall it and continue using it if you like it without the need to pay anything for it. Just go here http://www.os4depot.net/index.php?function=showfile&file=graphics/viewer/warpview_pubkey.lha and download install the the free public key file.

By curiosity, and except to support an Amigans developper, what are the advantages of the WarpDT datatypes ?
Faster than system ones ? Any benchmarks were done ?
Thank you for your reply

They are both based on the same source code if I understand correctly, its just that the developer said he has no longer updating the free version included in OS4 if I remember correctly and you get the preference program to set options.

| @zzd10h Yes see posts by @Futaura (the developer of WarpDT datatypes) in this old thread for more details: http://amigaworld.net/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=30089&start=0&post_id=522013&order=0&viewmode=flat&pid=0&forum=32#522013 _________________ Sam440ep 667mhz, 512MB, 120GB 2.5" HD, OS4.1FE WinUae 3.0.0, OS 3.9, BB3, Catweasel MkIV Amiga 1200, Blizzard 040/40 (BlizzardPPC 060/200 with SCSI removed at present), mediatorSX pci, Voodoo3, PCI network card os 3.9BB2 4MB Minimig with ARM addon boar |

| One think I remember is that if a file was under a certain size, it decoded slower than the 68k version of the datatype when you were using warpup version of the datatypes. I wonder if it was ever fixed. |

Just a guess but the issue could be related to the system overhead of the context switching caused by swapping between the 68k and PPC cpu. _________________ Sam440ep 667mhz, 512MB, 120GB 2.5" HD, OS4.1FE WinUae 3.0.0, OS 3.9, BB3, Catweasel MkIV Amiga 1200, Blizzard 040/40 (BlizzardPPC 060/200 with SCSI removed at present), mediatorSX pci, Voodoo3, PCI network card os 3.9BB2 4MB Minimig with ARM addon boar |

Maybe it was fixed? It's been a long time since I set up a proper system. I'll try and see if it was fixed once I receive my ppc amiga. (maybe it uses the 68k code when opening files smaller than a certain size? Because I remember this was being talked about and a possible fix) |

I am glad our answers and slightly side tracked reasoning helped and as I said above you can install the free key file for warpview and still use it to view jpegs if you like without needing to worry about nag requesters.
I paid for it back when I first got my sam440ep and OS4.1 but I now use FastView when I want to view a picture from DOPUS4 or 5 these days as it will open in a window on the selected screnn, but I still like WarpView for slide show style photo viewing as I like the fade effect and other transition effects it offers. _________________ Sam440ep 667mhz, 512MB, 120GB 2.5" HD, OS4.1FE WinUae 3.0.0, OS 3.9, BB3, Catweasel MkIV Amiga 1200, Blizzard 040/40 (BlizzardPPC 060/200 with SCSI removed at present), mediatorSX pci, Voodoo3, PCI network card os 3.9BB2 4MB Minimig with ARM addon boar |

yep, just didn't know the whole picture about datatypes, but thanks for the heads up:)
the WarpDT also installs WarpDT Prefs program, so i only delete the drawer and every trace of WarpDT is gone? _________________ nox's in the house! |
