Sketchblock - Problems with Proaction

Sketchblock seems to be a good program but it is rather useless to me. Every time I try to do something, for example resize an image, I get complaints about Proaction. Is Proaction something that has to be installed for Sketchblock to work fine? In that case, do I have to install it in a special drawer?

@Niolator

You can find ProAction on OS4Depot. You can install it anywhere you would like. After started it the first time you can forget it, SketchBlock will know where it is.

@Niolator

I got it to work. I just downloaded Proaction and started the server. Sketchblock runs a lot more smooth now. Copy selection doesn't want to play ball though. Maybe I am doing something wrong

@Lazi: Thanks for the tip, I managed to solve it myself just before you made your comment.

@Niolator

Yes you have to install proaction to get the best out of Sketchblock. The installation is easy, just read the readme :)

@Niolator

Glad you solved the ProAction issue, as you will now see it privides GUI for many of the external scripts (both python and arexx ) that control the program.

What problem did you have with Copy Selection ?

A guess might be that if you are using the rectangle or ellipse selection tool your not pressing space to select.

@broadblues

Are there chance you can implement shortcuts for various tools / functions?

For example: V for default arrow tool, C for activating Crop tool, 0 - 100 keypad numbers press for opacity of layer or brush, B for brush, +\~ keys for brush size... Etc???

Keyboard shortcuts and menus are fully customisable, just go to Menu->Settings->Edit to see the list.

There are number of keyboard shortcuts defined by default. You can add as many more as you like. You can also add short cuts to the menus.

I deliberately haven't gone over board in adding extras as the idea is for you to set up your own prefered set.

What tool do you mean here?

Quote:

C for activating Crop tool,

That functionality is part of the Scale / Resize Layer script so take a look at the entry for Rotate Layer to see how and use @Rexx/ScaleLayer.py as the command instead.

How big is your keyboard?

B for brush, +\~ keys for brush size... Etc???

Brush size is currently ',' and '.'

The complete default set is

o TAB - Toggles Tools windows.
o CTRL Z - Undo last operation
o CTRL Y - Redo last undo operation
o P - Set current tool to "Paint".
o E - Set current tool to "Erase".
o S - Swap foreground and background colours
o COMMA (',') - Decrease brush size
o PERIOD ('.') - Increase brush size
o RALT COMMA (',') - Lighten foreground colour
o RALT PERIOD ('.') - Darken foreground colour
o LSHIFT 1 - Begin recording Macro
o RSHIFT QUOTE ('"') - Finish Recording Macro

@broadblues

Thank you for your reply. I will download newer version & give it a try :) After seeing ArtEffect not developing anymore - I guess Sketchblock has very good start to do some replacement :)

About keypad: in Photoshop - doubleclicking the key "0" gives you 0 or 100% opacity. Doubletapping for example "2" will give you "2" or "22%" of layer opacity. It is very handy for quick work.
