| HI all I have not posted in a long time and I need some help..
Ok I would love to get my amiga 1200 on line I have all the needed hardware and I have just got a Liksys wnc1 wifi card but I have been told that it may need the firmware updating on the card.... A friend of mine has just got a card from amigkit and have tested it in my system so I know that it is set up properly.
what I would like is ....... is there some one on here that can flash the card for me I have no way of doing it and there is a drink in it for them ..
Thanks |

Looks like what you need is a PC laptop or a friend with one which has a PC card port to plug it into so it can be reflashed to updated firmware.
BTW, looks like it was so long since you last posted your post counter was reset. Last edited by Hypex on 14-Sep-2014 at 04:15 PM.

You need to run Odyssey web-browser (OWB) created by FAB, the requirement for this browser is AmigaOS4 or MorphOS, only AmigaOS4 can be registered for Amiga1200, but it has a requirement of a PowerPC CPU, so you need to upgrade to BlizzardPPC.
The problem you will have is that while you can play a Youtube video on a BlizzardPPC its going to be slow, so you need to over clock it, you will also need a good graphic card, (plus maybe some PCI bus board from Elbox.), Soon your A1200 will filled to rims, and you need a bigger cabinet, and new PSU.
All this will cost you $$$, your $$$ will be better spent on Sam460/AmigaONE-X1000 that are many times more powerful computers compared to your classic Amiga1200 even with upgrades. BlizzardPPC cards has become collectors items, they are rare items, this make the price high.
Amiga computers are good for old software, AmigaONE or Sam460 is whats need to do modern things with AmigaOS because modern software is lot more complicated, so you need a lot more CPU power, RAM, disk speed, and better graphic card.

How do you use AmiTCP when wifi would usually use a modern DHCP setup? The AmiTCP Setup link is dead. |

Link updated (archive.org is your friend).
Not sure if I have ever used AmiTCP with DHCP but it isn't a problem if you set an IP and chose your router's IP as the gateway/DNS server. Some routers get prickly serving traffic/DNS to non DHCP served hosts with the DHCP range , in which case go into the router config, reduce the IP range of the DHCP server and then set the Amiga's IP outside the scope. This also prevents issues with IP conflicts. _________________ Amiga A1200, 3.1 ROMs, Blizzard 1230 MKIV 64MB & FPU, 4GB DoM SSD, Workbench 3.1 |

Are you sure you quoted the model number correctly? I haven't heard of the WNC1, and Google doesn't seem to know much about it either. I'd reflash it for you if we can confirm that it is a suitable card. |

| Can anyone tell me what I have to do to make prism2 work with WPA, WPA2 ?
I'm using the older version of prism2.device. When using the new version of prism2.device, I can't even connect to WEP network. There must be something I'm doing wrong with the configuration file.
I want to set my network to WPA2-Personal or WPA2-Mixed like it used to be.
Encryption is set to "TKIP or AES".
Let's assume preshared Key is a key like: aJqrc40f
Having this Wireless.prefs inside ENVARC:Sys does not work
network={ ssid="HOME" key_mgmt=WPA-PSK psk="aJqrc40f" }
Is there a trick I should know?
After wirelessmanager is run, all I get it flashing light on the wireless card.
when I use "the wirelessmanager prism2.device verbose", I read among the lines something like "SKIP - no WPA/RSN IE" and it keeps trying to connect to my network and say the same thing.

Thanks. I once tried to setup static IP on a friends A4000T Mediator combinatiion using Genesis. It failed. I tried to reserve an IP for the A4000 in the router by tying it to the MAC address. All I tried got no reponse from the router, as if it wann't there. Even Miami with DHCP support failed in the same sort of way.
Tried Roadshow demo and it worked straight off the bat.
Told my friend to just buy it. |

What model of card do you have? Have you read the section in the driver's manual about cards' firmware? |
