| Hey all,
I was hoping someone could help me with this issue I have with trying to get the Elbox 4xEIDE'99 interface to load on my A1200 Hard Drive, or at all. Here's the situation;
- I have Workbench 3.1 loaded on the CF HD no problem - I have the CF HD connected to the port facing the inside of the Amiga - I have a DVD-Rom connected to the secondary port facing to the outside of the Amiga - I've followed the instructions given by Elbox to Boot the Computer from HD, run the EIDE'99 Floppy Disk - When I double click 4xEIDE Install from the floppy, I get - Unable to open your tool 'C:Installer' - I read the directions and copied the Install folder and program, the English one, to all of the following - System/System folder, HDD and HDD2 - I'll still get that error
Now unless I am using the wrong install/installer file, using the Workbench 3.1 Install Disk, I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. The directions say specifically - The installer program (from Install Workbench) must be present in the SYS: folder of the booting disk. As I mentioned, I put it all of those areas, since I don't know if HDD is considered C: or if System is considered C: . Any help would be appreciated. Sorry if this is a bit simple to you guys, but it's driving me nuts. Thanks.

The usual place for the Installer program on a normal Workbench install is SYS:Utilities but for some reason many installer scripts insist on using "C:Installer" as default tool.
There are two ways you can fix this:
1. Fix the the floppy by changing the the default tool of the icon to just "Installer" instead of "C:Installer" (without the explicit path it will search the entire command path list including SYS:Utilities for the command and not just the C: assign).
2. Do as many other users have done in the past and simply create a copy of the SYS:Utilities/Installer file in SYS:C, or if you really wanted to be fancy you could create a link there. |

Spending a lot of time around Windows machines? On the Amiga, C: is an assign where most of the AmigaDOS commands are kept, and is part of the path so anything in the C: directory can be run without specifying a path. It normally defaults to SYS:c/, so it might be worth putting Installer in there if some script or other is looking for it specifically there (though it shouldn't).
How it should be done is that the install script's icon information should have "Installer" set as the default tool instead of "C:Installer". That way, it would find it wherever it's istalled (SYS:c/, SYS:Utilities/ or whatever)._________________ RobTheNerd.com | InstallerGen | SMBMounter | Atoms-X |

Thanks. I'll give what you suggested a try. Sorry, I know this might seem pretty trivial to some of you guys, but since I've been away from Amiga for so long, I really forgot (Or never knew to begin with) how to fix many of the little issues some of the software might have.
