A book that celebrates the beauty of the Commodore Amiga. Full of pixel art, iconic box art and contributions from industry legends
---- Dont know if this has already been covered on here, but this looks like its going to be a great book for Amiga fans and the best things it already smashed its goal and got an amazing £50,000 backing! Proves there still alot of Amiga fans out there! I just backed it!
The Zool bitmap is a Megadrive graphic. Of course with a book about the Amiga this sticks out as a shore thumb.
The original Amiga art is of higher resolution and this poorly transitioned to the Megadrive's lower resolution screen.
Here are two screen's to compare,
Amiga here and Megadrive below the tekst for easy reading and comparing
See, the Amiga bitmap has a smooth oval for Zool's head whereas Zool's head on the Megadrive has awkward corners.
And the belt buckel is cleary a belt buckel on the Amiga, while the Megadrive's one is a 2x2 yellow block, it could be a button if I didn't know what it was suppose to represent.
Shading is also weak on the Megadrive compared to Amiga, note the limbs and belt buckel. While the Megadrive throws in some purple shading for the torso and head. which I find to be out of place and makes Zool seem more garish.
Lastly, Amiga's Zool takes advantage of the higher color pallet, the selected color transitions very well to each other. While the Megadrive's colors contrast much more and is less easy on the eye.
