Mouse Lag?

Hi all,

I just got back into the Amiga game today after taking delivery of a complete desktop dynamite pack.

Everything seems great, except for one thing - a laggy mouse.

Has anyone else experienced anything like this? I've not tried another mouse yet but would be useful to know if this is symptomatic of something in particular.

Thanks in advance,

AndyC

@AndyC

I have never seen anything like that under normal circumstances on any of my machines: A1200, A1-XE, A1-X1000 with Classic mouse, PS/2 mouse, USB mouse, wireless PS/2 and USB mouse.

I have noticed it on some rare occation on my A1200 with classic mouse when there was some interrupt-heavy background thing running. Can't remember what that was, but that's all...

I've noticed it in some occasions on my A1 XE using USB-mice depending on brand and so on. Never in WB but in games. In the early startup-menu I only got one mouse that works normaly (last time I checked which was with update 6 of AOS 4.1).

No issues on classics.

Definitely sounds like a mouse issue. Tried cleaning the ball/rollers?

@danwood

I've got an older tank mouse kicking about somewhere - reckon I'll try that out first - assuming I can find it!

I don't think there could be anything running in the background that could be interfering. It's just got a simple WB3.0 installation with a few other applications installed.

Cheers,
AndyC

An A1200.. Ball mouse I assume. From the bottom roll open there are "rollers" to Clean with a proper cleaning solvent or any helps if not and the ball is to be wiped too. (Used to dip it for sometime and leave to dry) Better instructions available.

Thats good to test with the other mouse to see where is the problem.

Sometimes had the infrared Golden Image in a wrong mat, then others. Usually the wrong mousemats made the trouble.

Never heard of a problem in soft,hard or even a virus.

@AndyC

Are you connecting to a monitor or a TV, or even to TV via a dvd/bluray or anything that turns Analog to digital.

Sometimes these devices that have Analog to Digital converters have a delay which is sometimes noticable for computer users

Once noticed when used to a fast mouse settings. WB has the speed settings in Prefs. How about in a mouse controllable game from a boot.

@TheAMIgaOne

Evening all,

Just booted into Lemmings with my Tank mouse and the lag was still there. I'm connecting via component (comp video/ phono L/R), but I suspect there is some analogue to digital process taking place.

I'll try my older TV now (one that I know definitely works...) to see if it's still there.

Lemmings was fun by the way
