@phoenixkonsole

Sounds interesting, I have been thinking of getting a Pi lately. I wouldn't be willing to pay much more than I would for a standalone Pi though and integration would have to be pretty seemless otherwise you might as well have a standalone Pi with OpenELEC.

@dan.hutch
Sure, the plan is to make it seemless

I am still waiting for 2 small electronic components for powersupply..

meanwhile i am optimizing the case in order to make it less expensive

I`ve got now the parts and finished the holder plate and casing to fit into a 5.25" bay.
My early price tag of ~189 was not bad.

In numbers below 10, the casing would cost 83€
Than you need a Pi or Pi 2 (i could exclude this, because they are available everywhere)
AdditionalHardware 40€
Software 30€

Still someone interested? : )

So.. I am now officially Hardware builder : D

The products will be made by hand (my very own hands) and I could reduce the price for the casing by buying own tools and printers.

Next week i will do some tests and fine-tuning of the casing in order to reduce the price to around 120€ including the software.

What you will get:
1. A 5.25" frame (there will be a low cost option hiding behind your 5.25 cover -> problem you can't switch SD-cards... well for the full functionality you won't need to remove it anyway)
2. A raspberry Pi 2 (optional a 1 to save money)
3. AEROS Premium (which acts as printer and ICS server) and is accessible via VNC from AmigaOS or any other computer in your local network/wifi
4. Wifi dongle
5. Bluetooth dongle
6. USB i/o-plate which will be mounted into a free Pci or Pcie bracket
7. AmigaOS software to manage the Bluetooth, Printer and Wifi, or to establish aVNC connection to run AEROS on your workbench (AEROS supports also Windows applications)

Movie Playback and so on will not happen via VNC!!
Files on your Amiga drive will be realtime transcoded by the Pi and streamed back, you can play them back with mplayer for AmigaOS or AMC.

A 3.5" bay version will be also available.

This will work with:
SAM440 /460, X1000, Peg 1 + 2 and any PowerPC mac

Next week I will post some updates and photos to keep you updated

today i finished the 3d parts of my W4LK3R : D
Start printing next week

Specs will be:
Raspberry Pi 2
2.8" Touchscreen
UPS for 10hours energy in the garden
Bluetooth / wifi
SSD /SATA to USB
Slim Blueray drive /SATA to USB
2.5W Speakers

Dimensions are scaled to fit into the printing area (mine is limited to 150x150x150mm)
The dome should be no problem because the supporting material can be washed out with water. (in worst case i need to split it )

@Cass
I am targeting the Amiga Event in Neuss (Germany) for a release date.
Next Weekend I can do a shaky Video of it.

It would also be confusing. I thought it was bad enough applying the variant to the X1000 and A500 Sam460 spinoff. Perhaps names like AmigaAlso or AmigaAgain could be up for grabs. AmigaAswel? I got it! AmigaSon.

AmigaCube? AmigaNone? I am AmigaDone.

Price for a complete W4LK3R would be 249€. The case alone 80€.

Of course for me the best hardware possible is the Amiga One without Altivec only G3 CPU.

@Morphix

I am intersted because I have a broken A1 that AmigaStore.eu says me that they will post me a message on my e-mail so let's wait and see if the product combo goes on.This nice new video/wifi/bluetooth/printer combo seems righjt for my works on a personal computer in general usage.

I think I could buy wherever it's price always keeping in mind that i have a great machine to repair on summer season that's my beloved Amiga One.

Thank you specially you Morphix and all the great people around this comunnity.

@phoenixkonsole

I bit a confused, is this some kind of external module for Sam 440 series? I can't get a picture of this, of course I have read what you have wrote, but... first I thought this will fit to 5.25 drive bay??

This is raspi mobo with Aros hosted top of the Linux? Is Aros actually needed? Why would it have 2.8 touch screen? Would it be easier just build custom Linux with needed functionality? Build it "set and forget" principal? Maybe a program to add Linux drivers latter?

As a side efffect I think the arrival of the PS4 is what is keeping the Amiga NG market alive bacause of the PPC processors on these macjhines as the Playstation 3 did too in the past.

Do you remember the OS4 goes PS3 arrival campaign to port the AmigaoS to PS3?

I still remember!!! hahaha

@utri007
Hi,

the AmigaNX Extension is placed into a 5.25" casing. (see post 24)

The W4LK3ER is a standalone Project.
The Touchscreen is there to control the Music-Player for instance.
The System has a build in battery and build-in Speakers so you can take it with you as mobile sound-Station/webradio. In Desktop mode it will offer reset, sleep and poweroff functionality or just a second Desktop.

AEROS is used in both cases. Why?
AEROS includes everything a Amigan could be interested in and it allows to run Windows and Linux i386 apps as well.
You can stream it via VNC to your Workbench if you like.

The underliying Linux is Debian based.
The question is: Why should I use something else?

This is cool & clever. (like Amiga?)

Long time ago x86 box was a cost efficient way to ad HDD+CD-ROM+HD floppy support to A500 via parnet. Then there was Siamese system that took it further.
RPi in similar use today is a smart move.

I imagine it's not too hard to set some extra Amiga/MorphOS screen to appear to RPi display. (not read if it works already)
Also some might use it with classic as well (Siamese system NG U know).
