OH, AmigaOS didn't had memory protection in the 80's and now its "suddenly" a problem?

As a programmer I would almost swim through oceans of liquid shit to get memory protection on AOS3.

@OlafS25

The thread is satire but a few very special people believe there is no retro Amiga scene because of Hyperion.

Obviously they are not aware of the continuous flow of hardware bits and bobs for 68k Amigas and should also perhaps pay attention to the Amiga Gamer blog.

But even if there was nothing going on I don't see the link it could be linked to Hyperion. People will do what they enjoy doing regardless of whether or not someone else is doing something different with the brand.

They're not paying much attention then, if anything it's more active than the OS4 scene. A quick visit to EAB or Amibay will show that.

Just wondering which way to read that:

Do you mean that a few special people beleave there is no retro amiga scene, and the believe that because of Hyperion, or they believe there is no scene, and there is no scene because of Hyperion?

Either way I would blem that on the specialness of the people rathr than Hyperion.

And furthermore, it is perfectly cromulent to criticise an OS on its published information and user feedback. If someone published an OS that claimed it will crash all your apps all the time and those apps will bring down the system because of lack of memory protection then you don't have to buy it and install it to be able to criticise it.

You're totally right with that,
what I had a bit in mind was people criticising Hyperion for lacking ambitious features which are a bit unrealistic in my opinion, like say for example 64 bit support, considering the size of the developement team.
And then there are some without OS4 who constantly bring something like that up by which I wonder
what do they want ? an apologie from hyperion ?
But I didn't left any signs pointing towards that in the original post so nobody could have made that connection.

Even if some of it is out of context and slightly skewed, but still an entertaining read.

Yeah, it is suppose to be a bit silly for no reason, thanks

The former it would seem.

Exactly.

@Rob

I think it is more like how Hyperion supporters treat retro scene.

A: Hey, I have Amiga 500 and I....
O: Oh, you are still using Amiga 500. Why don't you buy new x1000 to solve your problem?
A: It is too expensive and I don't need that...
O: You say x1000 is useless? TROLL!

@Trewq

If you think that saying something could insult people, why say it in the first place?

I am not insulted by this thread, nor am I amused, but to each his own.

@Yssing

No, because I do really think that "haters" have good points and are by no way anywhere near as stupid as the people in my original post in my opinion.

Sorry if I did offend anyone, that wasn't my intention.
The reason to say it in the first place was just to "get it out of my system"
and hopefully provide somebody with laughs

@Trewq

I am not saying Haters don't have a point, most often they do. But for most part, as with most things, it is about the words that are used in a message. If some one wants to get a point across, it is important to be diplomatic.
