I can never use my USB mouse and kb at startup and have to disconnect an reconnect the devices to get it to work. So far this solves the problem. _________________ Theres a time to live and a time to die When its time to meet the maker Theres a time to live but isnt it strange That as soon as you're born you're dying |

The keyboard isn't affected for me but it doesn't help disconnecting and connecting the mouse, only a reset does. |

As USBRecycle simply call "USBCtrl RESTART", take care, I forgot to add in the ReadMe that USBCtrl RESTART freezes the system if a USB stick or a CF card (like rescue CF card on some SAM460 motherboard) is plugged.
Confirmed on SAM460 and on my own X1000 (4.1.6 and FE)

Yes, too bad, same here While your tool elegantly solves the "mouse not there before re-plugged" problem here (thanks for that!), it's sadly near to useless to me thanks to that issue, because I've always attached an USB-stick on my KVM switch, acting like a kind of small shared folder for all machines connected to it. Since I tend to forget to unplug it before starting the Amiga... Damn. That USBCtrl problem was reported about three years ago it seems._________________ AmigaOS 4.1 FE (sam460ex Radeon 9200 / RadeonHD), MorphOS 3.8 (PowerMac G4 733MHz Radeon 9000), AROS (x86), A1200 (060 80MHz Indivision MK2), A500, A600, CDTV Wings Remastered Development Diary |

| OT: It's not just the SAM that suffers with this issue, I have the same problem with my Raspberry Pi, KB and mouse don't always work on startup, needing either a unplug/re-plug once up and running, or a similar USB restart command to the above. At least we are not alone

I've refreshed the bugzilla entry on the USBCtrl RESTART / STOP issue with a little more info, the fact that only occurs if a stick has been inserted had not been noted at the time of the original bugreport.

| @broadblues I didn't know about a former bugzilla entry, I only read that three years old comment on this topic including the USB stick dependency here. But thanks a lot for refreshing that bugzilla entry, would be great if this gets resolved! _________________ AmigaOS 4.1 FE (sam460ex Radeon 9200 / RadeonHD), MorphOS 3.8 (PowerMac G4 733MHz Radeon 9000), AROS (x86), A1200 (060 80MHz Indivision MK2), A500, A600, CDTV Wings Remastered Development Diary |

The BZ referenced in that thread was for a seperate bug with hubs that was fixed, so the additional factor of the usb stick didn't get noted at that time.
The BZ I just updated was posted a year or so later in response to a different thread which doesn't mention usb sticks, so it didn't get noted then either.
Can't give any promises on when it might get fixed. _________________ BroadBlues On Blues BroadBlues On Amiga Walker Broad |

Just to add, the same freeze occurs if a card reader is plugged even if NO card is plugged.
In other words, even if no USB massstorage device is mounted, USBCtrl Restart freezes ths system.
Is somebody know a way to recycle only the HID class usb devices ? I list the USB devices, i can isolate the USBCLASS_HID devices (mouse & keyboard) but i don't know how to recycle them.
Thank you for your help.

I don't have a card reader so I don't know how that shows up. Does it show in the mass storage GUI ? Even when no card is added?

I don't know what MassStorage GUI is but, yes, even without Card inserted, it's show as a USBCLASS_MASSSTORAGE (0x08) according to usb/devclasses.h
At least, it's shown as a USB stick. See the 2 screenshots below
1) Card reader plugged without card inserted
2) USB stick inserted and mounted

This is probably why a usb restart has never worked for me, I've always had a 3.5" floppy drive bay card reader plugged into the internal usb header.
I tried your program but by the return is simulated the window has lost it's focus. I was hoping it would fix a mouse not working until replugged problem I have, the problem only applies to a specific mouse that worked fine for a couple of years then started needing a replug. _________________ OS4 Rocks X1000 beta tester, Sam440 Flex (733)

I have the exact same problem : For years I used Logitech RX250 that worked fine with 4.1.6 and 4.1FE. Then, I bought Ducky Secret, which works fine with FE but fails to do so with 4.1.6 : It needs a USB stack restart to be recognized by the 4.1.6 . The trivial point is that the problem seems to appear on certain H/W combinations._________________ Ordell Robbie: Is she dead, yes or no? Louis: Pretty much. |

Indeed, it does...
I made some interesting experience regarding the "you have to re-plug the mouse after boot" problem. I used a passive hub like the following
click
(it´s german, but the hub type should be available worldwide. Just look for the form, colour is irrelevant. I tried several of these hubs with different colour, even one that was partly broken, and the mouse just worked)
I plugged that one between my active D-Link hub and the mouse and then the mouse works on every boot/reboot without the need to re-plug it. I cannot say for sure (yet), but it seems to be a problem with the wake-up time of certain mice. I use a different mouse now, which works totally ok without the "in between" passive hub. It´s a german import brand, made in China I suppose (CSL SM620 Gaming Mouse). |

I too now use a USB hub with my keyboard, mouse and joypad plugged in, It's more for convenience really as i only unplug it from the Sam460 to then use on my MIST board, but ever since I have been using a USB Hub, i no longer seem to get the annoying problem of not being able to use my mouse after a reboot/reset.
