Hi looking for help. I have just recovered my A500 and A1200 from the shed after many years and would love to get back into using them again. I have a couple of problems getting them working again, The A500 seams to have a power up problem and I intend to look at that shortly, the A1200 fires up but the mouse pointer will not move the buttons on the mouse seem to flicker the mouse position icon but nothing else, I remember the where keys you can use to move the pointer but cannot remember which ones,.
I fired up Faery Tail Adventure but with out mouse control I cannot get the sound selected. Any help would be greatly appreciated

@mickamiga

Could be a faulty mouse or something more sinister. You can try the A500's mouse on it of course to eliminate the computer. left Amiga and cursor keys to move around and shift and left Amiga with cursor keys to move quicker. left mouse button is control and left Amiga, right mouse is control and right Amiga. This is from memory, I do it automatically but Amiga is downstairs and too late to check!

@A1200

Thanks for that, Ok Amiga and cursor keys work on a normal desktop but do not work on the game, so guessing my mouse problems are with the mouse since they work with the keyboard. so I will strip down the mouse and test the leads. I swapped the mouse for the joystick and found I could only move right and down. Will try to get mouse working first I think.

Commodore hardware was overall very well manufactured, but after many years of inactivity, I have heard, fuses could be compromised (the aqueous component tends to dry) ... just guessing.

Repairs should be possible, try to ask dealers.

Good luck

@mickamiga

As A1200 wrote, you can use A500 mouse with A1200. It seems problems of A1200 are lesser than in case of your A500.

And of course...

Welcome!

While it could just be a dodgy joystick, I had similar issues to the ones you are describing with my CD32/SX-1. Turns out one of the CIA chips was faulty. In the SX-1 it was easy enough to verify this by opening the lid and swapping the two chips around... I'm not sure it's quite so easy with the A500/A1200.

Perhaps somebody more knowledgeable could verify that this is a potential issue, though. It was a *looong* time ago that it happened to me.

@mickamiga

If your A500 is a plus model, I'm guessing the problem with that will be a corroded battery.
