Loving these Raspberry Pi 2 progress reports. Why spend $700 on a PPC amiga when you can buy a $35 ARM amiga? You guys are truly going to save our platform.
SAM 460cr: CPU CLOCK 1 Ghz 2 DDR DIMM slots, max 1 GB RAM 7 USB ports Gigabit ethernet Integrated SD card reader no built-in graphics or sound
Raspberry Pi 2: 900MHz quad-core ARM Cortex-A7 CPU 1GB RAM 4 USB ports 40 GPIO pins Full HDMI port Ethernet port Combined 3.5mm audio jack and composite video Camera interface (CSI) Display interface (DSI) Micro SD card slot VideoCore IV 3D graphics core
You may fairly argue that the Sam460 brings more than the Pi2, but is it worth 20x the price?
(edit: updated SAM specs to 460)

For SAM 460's case, AmigaOS 4.1 runs 68K apps transparently and are not treated as a second class citizens.

That's not AROS and this is a AROS thread on a Forum called 'AROS Software', AROS is only poorly supported on Sam460 and less than a 2nd class citizen.

68K apps should be treated as second class citizens and sandboxed accordingly. If the platforms are to advance we need to place old applications in a nice secure sandbox for them to play in. :P

You can disagree however I doubt we're speaking about the same thing. For you a full blown 68K system in a 68K based machine should be a first class citizen. For me I was speaking about 68K apps on either ppc or x86.
As it is you already run 68K in a sandbox on a modern operating system. What do you think you're doing by running your distro in UAE?

it only seemed to me that the "X86" camp underestimates how important Aros 68k for Aros is, I make the prediction that soon much more people will use Aros 68k than Aros X86 (if that is not yet the case anyway). |
