| I love computer/technology history and for that I absolutely love browsing Aminet.
Browsing Aminet thru old files is very mystic to me
The site has lived thru the Commodore years, the release of Zool, Amiga technologies, the release of Doom, Quake and Unreal, the Windows 95 years, the internet revolution (well, the beginnings) and the AmigaDE and AmigaOne 1200. Accumulating every kind of file since, becoming a archive of the 90's and early 2000's
It is full of random mid 90's foto's, 3d renders and is home to some of the oldest JPEGS in history.
This Jpeg, which can be found under the name Anguish2JPG.lha is from 1992, So wierd yet fanstastic, that there exist a jpeg that is three years older than me ! and the readme FORBIDS this to be used in a crack intro
And here's some guy eating his Amiga 1200 in 1995 (yes really, the names yumyum.jpg )
I don't know why but this jpg is very nostalgic to me, I suppose its the photo quality and the time when its made, when classic Amiga's were considered up to date relevant machines and the OS I grew up with, Win 9x was released in that time
So, go out on Aminet and find something wierd or interesting to show in this thread !
I think that this will be a very fun thread. _________________ Best way to enjoy Amiga is without the community |

| Here are some raytranced Amiga Techologies from 1995 by pirlAGA before the boing ball and now well known red dotted i, Bodoni logo were adapted.
These can be found under the name "AmyTechLogos.lha" (Yes, with a y)
Those logo's were based off the logo which was found on what was official concept renders of a redesigned A. technologies Amiga 4000, this logo is known as the Beehive logo. Below two shots of the renders which show the logo's
Here is a logo made by Tinic Urou for a forum/Bulleting board/Compuserve (?) discussion in 1995.
"This is my contribution to the un-official " Let's-see-who-makes-the-prettiest-AmiTech-logo " competition"
This logo seems to be even older than the Amiga Technologies beehive design.
This can be found with the name "amigatech.lha"
This logo is the oldest in spirit, made in June 23 of 1995 by Adrian De Luca, having more a link with Commodore's Amiga and the parent company Escom its self
Unfortunately, I can't remember what the name of the lha file is, try "Amitech" on Aminet which is the readme's name. Which it self is has some interesting snippets.
"I found many users still defined the Amiga by the Check mark, introduced when the first Amiga was released, the A1000. I also found that many did not approve of the new "orange" triangle (Christmas Tree) logo introduced by Escom. Therefore I propose my new logo which incorporates a blend between then both"
"I believe this logo is appropriate in that it holds traditional value for all Amiga users (The check mark) which inspires the Amiga's creative flair vibrant personality. And it incorporates a new element in the Amiga from the new "Amiga Technologies" in which the Amiga was reborn (The triangle A). This logo will signify a new beginning for our great machine, as the Amiga will again capture the hearts of millions around the world!"

If anyone have trouble converting IFF files to jpeg then may I recommend the awesome JPEG-BOX program on Aminet, requires the Superview liberary which can be found at
http://amigas.ru/amiftp/index.php?dir=zveroftp/gfx/SViewII/v8.37/ I'm not sure if you'll need Warpos emulation as it activated when I used it, l think it is a 68k/PPC hybrid lib/program (JPEG-BOX).
(Lib is in SvII-1.lha) Be sure to set compression to 100% for no quality loss!
And please, if you feel like that I'm using Amigaworld as a dumping place then let me know, I promise that my next findings won't be large in quantity
I hope you'll enjoy this piece of Amiga history. Last edited by Trewq on 17-Mar-2015 at 03:47 PM. Last edited by Trewq on 17-Mar-2015 at 03:40 PM.

| Probably a already well known pic, but still Here's much loved/hated Amiga ninja Zool who attended the World of Commodore in 1993.
but did you know that Zool was endorsed by then popular base player John benn ?
The full readme below.
This is a Jpeg image of Zool, from the November World Of Commodore show in Toronto, Canada. Zool was actually a girl from the University of Western Ontario (London Ontario) who was hired to wear the costume. We were so amused by it that we convinced her to pose for a picture, which we also had printed out on the primera printer.
The person posing in the shot with Zool is John Benn, base player for the every popular (at least, from Toronto to Windsor) band We Wish We Knew. He was the one who convinced the vendors, the primera people, and Zool to help him out, so he deserves all the credit. I am just the one with the Internet account.
The advertisement they showed that will be used in UK to sell CD32 was amazing, very *sega like*. Also, I would *very* strongly recommend getting the MPEG module, for although Startrek IV was optimized for mpeg, it was *the* best still frame recording I have ever seen. It seems well worth the 200$ MSRP, and if enough people get them we may have some cool games with it too. :)
I just had to say my piece .
-Chris
Doing very short research *COUGH*google I've found a music related John Benn but I'm not sure if this is the john Benn.
I'll try to contact him and see if he has any memories (and sweet music ) to share with us.
This file can be found under "zool.jpg"
*Edit* Did I seriously miss the band's freaking name in the readme? Last edited by Trewq on 18-Mar-2015 at 08:49 PM. Last edited by Trewq on 18-Mar-2015 at 08:42 PM. Last edited by Trewq on 18-Mar-2015 at 08:40 PM.

| @amigang Doesn't matter, I've been to that site before, very interesting dessecting copper lists.
Cool site for sure!
@Danwood
Thanks! keeps me motivated
Awesome pics, Love the look of gui's in the mid-late 90's No shading, subtile colors, maybe a texture and very minimalistic but effective depth, one bright pixel and one dark pixel.
Getting a bit tired of all the gradients or glass look nowadays.
And now we're heading in a trend where painfully bright colors and monotone composition is considered modern, you can also consider it lazy like I do.
http://www.neowin.net/news/windows-10-9926-here-are-the-new-icons
I bet the folks at Microsoft design their gui's in MS Paint using the line and fill tool..
I should check out the wb section too !
I'm now personally browsing the view section, which I find very mystic since there are loads of picture's like this
(Armour.jpg)
(frestival.jpg)
(bari_cath.jpg)
Which are labled (name Country resolutionxresolution) with no description! all from 1995 No author, no readme. Also there don't seem to be even a uploader
Which makes me wonder, are those public domain pictures that were used in the mid 90's for graphic programs/programming as examples ?
Such as the baboon picture and Utah teapot ?
(not Aminet)
Makes me want to make a adventure game using those pictures
Well, I'm sick at the moment, I have allot more Amiga related stuff to post instead of this stuff I bet you guys aren't interested in But converting IFF to jpg and uploading takes some energy which I don't have at the moment.
Maybe later today. Last edited by Trewq on 25-Mar-2015 at 06:36 PM.
