I'm currently looking to see what my potential market is for Final Writer.

So here it goes how much would you be willing to pay for Final Writer? I would like to keep it to those who are willing to purchase a copy which will help support the future development of the program. This will help me determine which platforms/branches to support.

@terminills

Well, is any features list planned? Or we are discussing regarding about how much we would be willing to pay for a fully native NG port of existing version?

@terminills

I'd love a native morphos version, if it can read/write .docx files then it would be incredible.

@terminills

You posted in the Amiga area... so does that mean you're seriously considering
working on an AmigaOS version of Final Writer?

I contributed to your previous project and never saw anything worthwhile
come of it. Will this time produce different results?

So... if you complete a reliable AmigaOS native PPC port with all the current
features and I'll gladly pay on delivery & successful testing.

Complete a reliable, working AmigaOS native PPC port plus the ability to fully
import & export .doc/.docx/.odt formats and I'll pay much more on delivery &
successful testing.

So are you more serious this time?

@pjs

Are you talking gutenprint? ;) That was as I stated many times was merely a hobby project.

@terminills,

Final Copy2 is a bit old, Amiga writer is not too bad but unavailable now. A modernized and polished Final Writer would fairly be priced at around $35 US. IMHO.

@terminills

If it runs fast, flawlessly and it's not a dirty port, yes I'll buy a copy for sure.

i'd buy a copy, maybe a couple if docx could be read and printing solution was in place.

@terminills

I might be interested in an AmigaOS4 version if you add a spell checker in it.

I'd imagine the people that contributed to it would have appreciated that
information beforehand.

So FinalWriter work is not a "hobby project" ?

@terminills

as i mentioned here, i'd be looking for versions for AOS4 and AROS and would like to pay around $50 -- depending on the feature set, of course.

@terminills

I always liked Finalwriter. i'd pay $50 for os4 port, and more if it can do open/libreoffice formats and msword doc and docx.

same for finalcalc, with open/libreoffice and excel files.

@terminills

Fully native with the ability to load and save documents in current popular formats and updated tool bar icons to freshen up the appearance would be a good start
I'd recommend AISS for the icons since it already has pretty much every icon you'd ever need and it gives a consistent feel with other applications using it.

I'd probably be willing to pay £40-£50 for it on physical media and slightly less if download only.

@OlafS25,

If all 3 in the Final series were updated a bit, released box set would be $99 US easy.

its all too vague to answer anything more sensible than the question is. but frankly i doubt i will be buying any text editor for amiga in foreseeable future. normally i might consider contributing to some realistic bounty, not this times though. so, sorrz to say, all in all my answer is im not going to buy it.
