My SD card was trashed on reboot and I hadn't backed up all the files.

@Rob

that is not good

when I had similar problems at customers in most of the cases the directory structure was destroyed and recovery not possible

was there a amiga specific partition on it or something common like FAT?

PhotoRec?

It detects photos and other recognisable files for salvaging. Of course the name is lost at this point so very annoying to deal with.

FAT32. The card was brand new and I'd only taken my first few photos and vids. The machine was actually a WinXP system and checkdisk or whatever decided to mess things up for some reason.

Ran it through an XP app called Recuva which detects some of the files but not all for some reason the files that aren't gone completely seem to be duplicated several hundred times.

@Rob

For FAT there are several recovery programs on windows. If you are lucky some files can be recovered. If the files are important you should go to a specialist but of course no guarantee that they can do something and it is expensive.

@OlafS25

I'll try a few different recovery tools just to see if they yield different results. Thankfully the files a not massively important.
