Alpha testers needed for next version of Cinnamon Writer

2-3 alpha testers are needed to test the next version of Cinnamon Writer. You do not need to be an experienced coder to help, however fair knowledge and daily use of Word and similar programs will be appreciated. Patience is a must. Some features/bugs will be easy to implement/fix, however some may take several weeks.
The version tested is for AOS4.X, however, when beta/RC stages are reached CW will be compiled for MorphOS and hopefully AROS.
If you are interested, please send me an email at projects@desler.be. Please write a few words about your use of word processing programs, which amiga(s) you have and if you have working printer setup.
I will probably be able to compile a version for testers to play with during their Easter holidays

Just to remind people: Cinnamon Writer is a free word processor that is being developed from the ground up for AOS4, MorphOS and AROS (see more at desler.be).
This is a (very) short list of planned new features for this new version

- Support of images
- UTF support
- Much improved handling of DocX files (loading & saving)
- Semi-advanced printing & exporting to PDF
- Stability issues have been fixed

And a nice screenshot

Agreed. I was hoping that Cinnamon Writer was still being actively developed, so it's great to see progress being made. I don't have time for beta testing it myself, but I am looking forward to seeing this reaching the release stage.

@Desler

I was actually looking at your site yesterday following the recent discussion about Final Writer and whether or not DocX support was feasible.

Nice to see it being updated and the shot you provided is looking good.

Is the regular Word usage required for testing compatibilty? I noticed a while back that an a document I updated was really out on the formatting when loaded back into word.

@Desler

Nice to see this project is not dead. And it looks good too, I hope there is spell checker included.

@Rob
Yes, I am trying to aim for as much compatibility as possible when loading and saving Word documents. The dream scenario would be that people could send a CW generated Docx to their collegeus who uses Word without even fearing that the document will look different to them

@NutsAboutAmiga
A spell checker has been a part of CW for some time now. In the new version this has been upgraded to be UTF compatible

@Desler

I'm apply for a lot of jobs at the moment and most application forms are Word documents. Would love to be able to complete this task on my Amiga. If you don't get better qualified testers I'm willing o test for you.

Good. Maybe had applied as did a translation work back then but as my HP Color LaserJet 2600N is not OS4 compatible, would have wanted to test printing aswell.

@saimon69
A rudimentary loading module for ODX has been made (text and text layout, but no image support), however whether it will make it to the release of this version is unclear; people often get disappointed when a feature is not fully supported (and I can understand why). If people needs it, I can probably be persuaded to do a special version with the ODX support.
(At some point I even had rudimentary Apple Pages support, but when Apple changed version, the fileformat became utter gibberish)
