Love it or hate it, it's a sad thing to see such a longstanding site disappear.

This statement from John is now appearing on general section of the site

"Moo Bunny isn't yours to take.

No. I could be polite or whatever - no. You dumb shits. It wasn't yours to vandalize and it is not yours to steal.

You wanted me to explain myself? Certain users had discovered a - presumably longstanding - bug by which it was possible to see, and reply, to messages within a deleted thread. They were basically operating their own shadow Moo Bunny. I fixed that bug on Tuesday. Wednesday everybody is screaming that I am unfairly infringing on their rights.

It was getting better on Amiga Section after I went over it with a chainsaw - which should not have been necessary in the first place. Actual discussions were happening again, imagine that. Over here? I took away your plaything and now there are discussions about taking Moo Bunny itself and making a whole other board out of it? What the living fuck is wrong with you people? You spend a decade or two constantly vandalizing my car, you don't get to say I owe you the car because I cleaned off your spraypaint.

I don't have to explain my moderation rationale. It's been up top of the page for seventeen years.

Let me clear something up. No one has sued. Dreamhost has contacted me ONCE about a message someone wanted removed (from 2010) and they explained to me that I was under no obligation to delete the message if I didn't want. I started getting serious about moderation last month simply for the same reason you'd decide to shave a beard, or clean a room once you notice a smell: it was overdue. I would have though this wouldn't be difficult to figure out.

This is it. I don't know what else to do. I'll be putting up close messages on the other boards through the rest of this weekend and that will be the end of it. There is absolutely no reason it had to reach this point.

@Rob

Moobunny was interesting social experiment. And miserable failure. How sad.

Respect to Mr. Shepard for killing his own site (this is not that easy decision).
Disrepect to those who (ab)used Moobunny in a sick inhuman way.

Moobunny was nice from time to time. Also it was a place to get some infos much quicker than regulary news sites..

Hope "you" (fake-user- spammers) like what you did to your own playground.
Shame on you.

@Rob

I think people have enough options including this forum or my own forum amigaforum.de

There is only two differences to moobunny... not anonymous postings, if people want to discuss they can stand to it and must not hide and second not the "gay" shit and similar.

So I think if people want seriously discuss they can

Good riddance.
I just hope that the fuckwits who posted there stay away from civilised amiga land. Also, that those of them already here can keep a lid on it now their rant portal is gone.

Sad to see. Amiga section was working well lately for the most part, in no small part down to more active maintenance. First time I've even looked at General for a while.

I'm only sorry for you, I know you liked to post there & I respect you for being the defender of the Amiga amongst the haters, thank you for that.

I get the feeling you didn't like what Xmas87 posted, but there were/are some very vile posters on that site that thought they had the right to hurt ppl they didn't like that went beyond disgusting.

@all
Its ironic that every time AW went down, moo posters would cheer & hope we were down for good, now look.

That's the end of an era right there, reminds me of when ann.lu closed its doors for the last time. It was an interesting site, but the complete lack of moderation made for some truly nasty threads. I still believe some of those posters have genuine mental issues.

@sundown

Well to be honest the craziest poster there ever
(speculated to be Thiery Atheist !!!!111) came after
exile from Amigans.

I'm not talking about poster who post few insults
or bad words.That's perfectly ok with me :)

That guy had around 500-1000 topics per week with
words bu****le and a**** not to mention links to porn
pics (some ilegal).

There were few others in more recent times that would
post walls of text so long that even most experienced
and battle hardened users there got a little nervous.

Texts were in the form of monologue explaining why
OS4 (or more accurately) PPC was not to be taken
lightly even today.

I wasn't too concerned about the "true believers" that were convinced that the amiga was just one killer app away from toppling microsoft - those guys are like flat earthers, just nod and be on your way. The really scary ones were the ones who'd post photos of where people live.

My sig is just fine, I never used the "hate" word in my post. It is true I have no problems with the moo site going down & out.

There were some trouble makers but ANN.lu remained moderated site. It was the best moderated Amiga site at that time.

True, ann.lu was nothing like the bunny in terms of content. I was referring to the closing down of something that was part of the amiga culture at the time.
