I doubt that there are many skilled developers left who could do it (if at all). Additionally you would need different sets of graphics and music if it shall run on both A500 and "NG" and make full use. You can propably count active developers on 2 or three hands and that all have more than enough own programmes/projects. Former Amiga game developers are today active on Smartphone or similar, working in leading positions in game companies or have even died. Next generation is unfortunately (or better hardly surprising) missing. To make something really good you would need a big team of very skilled developers, graphic artists, sound specialists and skilled people for creating the gameplay. Or you do "homebrew" software but that is hardly better than the original. Last edited by OlafS25 on 07-Apr-2015 at 02:28 PM.

| Outrun - C64 vs. CPC vs. Atari ST vs. Amiga http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JGtuyZwhX_4
The C64 version is a little bit more playable but all versions are crap he says in the end.
I can not agree more and fortunately nowadays you can emulate the Arcade version flawlessly on PC. _________________ Using: One Commodore C64 - One Commodore Amiga 500 - One Commodore Amiga 1200 with BVision and Blizzard 68060 with PPC coprocessor running Amiga DOS - One Hellbillylitre Amigatwox86x64x6000x running Windows7 |

You can emulate flawlessly on PC or on AMIGA too or are we Amigans or noT?
So let's defend and retreat on ours Amiga that is the best way to promote it,doing games, buying PPaint,Aladdin or Cinema 4D among other games. The Amiga deserves more than if it were a newcomer because is old great history and we have celebrating our 30th anniversary even if Hyperion is bankrupt,a theme or mistake if it was awful or bad for us,don't worry Microsoft or even Samsung will take the rights of Amiga. The patents, holding and all.And then let's talk about A500 Spy Hunter or Out Run new games versions.
We could be done for Amiga 500,Amiga 1200 or AONE.
Thanks for staying true to the Amiga _________________ AMIGA 500 1.5 MB ACA500/ACA1232 accelerators AMIGA 500 German CD32 unexpanded Amiga 1200 Tower on AmigaKit since years AMIGA 1300 030/50 Mhz/32 MB WB 3.9 with lots of games&demos AMIGA ONE XE G3 PPC 800 Mhz/1 GB RAM/RADEON 9250 128 MB/SATA CONTROLLER |

I am sure there are active developers around especially from the demo scene. There are also some "sleeping".

Amiga Spy Hunter and Out Run could be the best games in Amiga and general computing history.
Let's go for it!!! _________________ AMIGA 500 1.5 MB ACA500/ACA1232 accelerators AMIGA 500 German CD32 unexpanded Amiga 1200 Tower on AmigaKit since years AMIGA 1300 030/50 Mhz/32 MB WB 3.9 with lots of games&demos AMIGA ONE XE G3 PPC 800 Mhz/1 GB RAM/RADEON 9250 128 MB/SATA CONTROLLER |

I don't think an Amiga can emulate the Arcade version of OutRun in MAME without frameskipping, the Amiga500 version is just like a slideshow. Not even AGA and a 68060 could have emulated it flawlessly I think. But if it was hard-coded for AGA and a faster 68k CPU than a 68020/14 MHz it could perhaps become just as good as the Arcade game._________________ Using: One Commodore C64 - One Commodore Amiga 500 - One Commodore Amiga 1200 with BVision and Blizzard 68060 with PPC coprocessor running Amiga DOS - One Hellbillylitre Amigatwox86x64x6000x running Windows7 |

AFAIR Hollywood works only on 16bit+ screens from some time...however since it needs quite much resources I exclude the possibility to use it to made some sort of a game on classic hw(excluded WInUAE naturally) with decent speed...and honestly I dont care about that...I'm not really interested in classic hw...

Outrun is one of the best racing game ever.
The Amiga version was shameful. No doubt, Amiga deserves a decent and dignity version.
If someone take the project with little of love for the goal, will be achieve a great results!.
I am not a coder or programmer, but all my support to this idea and project. _________________ Amiga 1000, 500, 600, 2000, 1200, 4000...

I have a different idea. If what is wanted is more content for these games, why not try reverse-engineering the games and seeing if it's possible to reuse the engine and provide new datafiles? If the engines are 1: generic enough (as in, one common engine across all original levels) and 2: still runs on our machines, I don't really see the engine as the interesting thing to change. But oh man, give me 30 new levels for Lotus Turbo Challenge 2 and I'll be happy for a year.
Obviously this could need some licensing, but where there's a will, there's a way, right? _________________ This weeks pet peeve: Using "voltage" instead of "potential", which leads to inventing new words like "amperage" instead of "current" (I, measured in A) or possible "charge" (amperehours, Ah or Coulomb, C). Sometimes I don't even know what people mean. |

All my support too Out Run and Spy Hunter are the best games ever.
I will support both and give ideas, testing etc for the programmers.
Nice love to see people that think like me.
Total Disaster
The Amiga 500 Out Run version.
But I like it a lot anyway.

Reverse-engineering can be a way. Also some games became "abandonware" over the years meaning that the source code got released.

No surprise that Sega made a decent conversion for its MegaDrive, everything in house
I pretty much agree with what Galahad said (EAB).
I saw "Out Run" like engines even for the web, so I guess it is possible to grab one and adapt it to A500. Say I can code in M68K Assembly and have a certain interest for this thread, but you know nowadays with a family (wife, daughter) is different ...

I don't now if someone mentioned this but there are several "remakes" of Outrun already for PC, consoles and even arcade machines. I assume that is not what you're thinking of though. |
