I can fully relate with that, especially after almost ten years of marriage ^^

@newlight

It is evident that you like Out Run so much and me too but I just wanted to give my contribution to the thread.

If you have such motivation, you could start learning games programming ...

@Massi

how feasible is a pseudo 3d race game in blitz?
read better: what speed could achieve on an a500? A decent one?

@saimon69

If you precalculate the scaling of the objects, which I believe is done in Lotus, you can get decent speed. The road will be a bit problematic though. Maybe a mix of of copperlist and actual line drawing.
Racing statistics can be done as sprites.

=> can be done in Blitz, but is not a piece of cake. you need some HW understanding.

I'd be happy with a remake along the lines of the Sega Saturn version in Sega Ages..... 😏

In my opinion for this kind of games, where the refresh speed is everything, the only possible way is Assembly + a very good knowledge of the (graphics) hardware. And I doubt you can achieve a decent speed without precalculations, optimizations and other "tricks".

The project sounds like a complete headache especially given this was technically achieved two decades ago with the Lotus games

@newlight

A better idea is for you to Invest in a second hand PS2 and play Outrun 2006: Coast to Coast which is a far better game than the original ever was. If you've got a PS3 then Sega Rally is also awesome! These games are 'Blue Skies' SEGA at its best! The originals hinted at the possibilities but it was the PS2/PS3 games that nailed the formula. Each to their own though and if this is a labour of love to see if a better version is possible on a A500 then go for it. Just don't expect many other people to get too excited about it anymore. Soz.

Sega Outrun 2006: Coast to Coast - Arcade racing the way it was meant to be!

Yes I agree but wouldn' t it be a cool remake based on the Lotus engine with Out Run graphics?

Does Out Run 2006 include the girl on the Ferrari ... ?

@Massi

Yes you get that crazy girl too.

But neither Playstation 2 or emulation is required to play Outrun Coast 2 Coast if you have a WinAmi PC.

I have it here on my PC but I think there should have been an updated version because the graphics from 2006 isn't good at all compared to 2015 racing games.

There are three girls to impress on the Heart Attack mode!
They all punch the air and get excited when you complete a challenge.

How about this : https://github.com/djyt/cannonball/wiki

It is a Outrun opensource remake. It requires a visuall C++ addon for Windows, wich means no amiga port. BUT I realized that there is also a Sega Genesis version of that game. So is there a amiga compatiable sorces some where?

Thanks. It uses the Arcade ROM files. It looks nice in widescreen but other than that I think it works better in MAME.

Do you mean that generic emulator like mame does better than native port. ;)

Oh my mistake. I thought this was under the "Wants to be Amiga systems but is broken PPC PC systems" forum sections.

@Petah

What has mario zombies to do with this game? Out run is a racing game, not resident evil.
