Hi there,

I've been recently shown how nice Music X is and would love to give it ia try.

I've been using Tiger Cub since 1996 only because it was really important to be able to access the Amiga's internal voices alongside external midi instruments.

Tiger Cub's 12 track max has always bothered me, but I never cared for "mod" style tracker programs for composition.. I like a piano roll style so I've never found Octemed and other similar midi capable solutions that appealing.

Bars and Pipes is out there, but I don't believe it could play back the internal sounds as samples so I never gave it much thought.. at least that's what the sales guy back in 1996 was telling me when i was debating buying BnP for $200 or Tiger Cub for $40 i think..

I'm assuming Music X runs on WB 3.1 which is what I'm running on my amiga 1200.

Thanks,
Caleb

Nope. It needs 2.0 or 2.04.

Probably the best music software I ever used.

@227

Bars&Pipes offered an "add-on" called SamplePhone that would play back 8 bit samples. I don't know many of the details, but you are welcome to download Bars&Pipes professional 2.5c as well as any of the add ons you can find.

I think SamplePhone is part of the "Multimedia Toolkit".

Have Fun!

I ran Music-X on a A4000 with 3.1 ROMS but had to use 2.x WB.

Awesome, yea I managed to find the 2.0 disks online. I'll look into that bars and pipes also. I'm posting on a separate thread, but i'll ask here just in case.

For anyone looking for 1.0 and 2.0 I found these images

http://api.viglink.com/api/click?format=go&jsonp=vglnk_14296129306579&key=12923cb0b7fbd3695337103eed5f970c&libId=i8r6mgbt0100rdlo000DA6bp8scih&loc=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.vintagesynth.com%2Fforum%2Fviewtopic.php%3Ff%3D1%26t%3D79477%26start%3D15&v=1&out=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.amigaeu.com%2Fpages%2Fappslist(j-z&ref=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.vintagesynth.com%2Fforum%2Fviewtopic.php%3Ff%3D1%26t%3D79477%26start%3D30&title=standalone%20vintage%20arpeggiator%3F%20-%20Page%202%20-%20Vintage%20Synth%20Explorer%20Forums&txt=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.amigaeu.com%2Fpages%2Fappslist(j-z

Thanks so much for the insight! Looking forward to exploring both of these programs. Tiger Cub was great for it's straightforwardness, but the 12 midi track limit thing is kinda annoying and while it did have sample playback it only played an octave range and the playback range was based on the sample rate making any higher sample rate samples play back slower.. if you wanted true playback you had to take a sample down to like 11khz or something.. which was ok.. but a real pain in the ass if you have a bunch of high quality samples to audition in a song..

Thanks!
Caleb
