| Hi everyone,
Finally had some time to get back to testing out some of these exciting apps for the Amiga!
So I have music x 2.0 (and 1.0, but i'd like to use the latest) and i opened up the program and it didn't find fonts.. fixed that.. then i opened it and it didn't have midi drivers.. fixed that.. and now it just locks up.
There is no installer to speak of.. and i did some googling for the manual and it's some 480 page monster no one has turned into a pdf (understandably)
So yea I just want to know how to install.. it seems like the disk is bootable.. it has c and dev folders.. etc.. but i don't want to risk ruining my A1200 OS by overwriting a bunch of files I don't know are newer or older..
I see the main disk is bootable, but i would think that it could be simply installed locally on a hard drive and ran accordingly.
I'm going to check out Bars and Pipes next.
Thanks! Caleb Last edited by 227 on 25-May-2015 at 12:23 PM.

Update - so yea I didn't realize the utilities disk has the hard drive installation.. assuming the main disk would have the installer.. oh how things were different back then :) Now to find a manual! |

Remember that on Amiga you can made ASSIGNS, so then no any software installation could mess your system OS installation.
You have:
OS - System:
C Devs L Libs prefs S Etcetera
and if you create a subdirectory called Music_X in your system copying original disk Music_X: files into it...
C Devs L Libs prefs S Etcetera
You just call an editor and type in your S:User-Startup
C:Assign Music_X: Yourdevice:Directtory_Music_X ADD C:Assign C: Yourdevice:Directory_Music_X/C ADD C.Assign Libs: Yourdevice:Directory_Music_X/Libs ADD
Etcetera
Then at next reboot AmgaOS will add to the search path for commands and libs, those included in the subdirectory you typed, without messing with your original operating system installation on System:.
When you want to wipe out Music X from your system, just delete the subdirectories and the entries in the S:User-Startup script file
