Where's the MUI settings in IBrowse!?

Hello.

So I'm at my Amiga club. And things are going well. Hooked the A2065 up to an ethernet wireless adaptor and got my A4000 hooked up to the net. So then I loaded up IBrowse 2.4 that opens on Workbench. And it opens windows that don't fit the screen. So annoying. I go to change MUI settings and there is none there!

The last menu is Preferences and MUI is not there. In fact the Settings menu item is totally missing! This doesn't make sense! I've used it on my A1200 for years and never lost any menus!

How do you configure the MUI settings in IBrowse 2.4!?

@Hypex

Either place the pointer outside of IB's window or on the screen titlebar to avoid seeing the context menu when you right click and on the far right should be the Preferences menu header and half way down should be a section with:

---
Settings...
Screenmode...
MUI...
---

If it's not there I don't know what to tell you but in the alternative you might have the little popup menu gadget next to the iconify/resize/depth gadgets on the IB window itself and from that menu you can also select "MUI settings..."

@AlexC

Yes I was in that Preferences menu. Seems I wasn't clear enough with my description. ;)

That's where I thought the settings were, but the items you list are not in my Preferences menu! Neither do I have any MUI gadgets in the title bar!

It's been like that for a while and I don't know what's going on! All I have in Preferences are things like Images, Cache and Spoof with the enable/disable options.

Yep. The top part of the menu is there. All the other setting menu items are gone!

@Hypex

Did you ever find a solution to this problem? I'm experiencing the same thing; only have the top half of the menu and Screenmodes and Save as Default on the bottom. :-/

@Valiant

I didn't solve it no. I'm thinking I should reinstall MUI. Or install the latest 68K version. That should fix it up. It's annoying when no one else has your problem or how to fix it or you asked on the wrong forum.

I dont think it has anything to do with MUI but you have corrupted your OS install somehow.

@Hypex

Most likely a font problem. If I run IBrowse on a PAL screen with Topaz/8 font, the rightmost menu which fits on screen is the password manager. The settings menu is unreachable outside of the screen. Changing screen font to Helvetica/11 solves it.

Note: this is not a MUI setting, it is Sys:Prefs/Font setting. It might be a setting of the MUI screen inspector if you use a public screen for IBrowse.

@itix

Well I've kept it fairly clean so don't know what happened to it.

Thnaks for the tip. I actually run iBrowse on Workbench, but not by choice. I can see the Settings menu fine, it's just that the MUI section is missing. A SnoopDOS may also be in order, since I can run it on OS3.

@Hypex

I'm not sure if you look in the right place. The menu is not called settings but preferences and there is no MUI "section" but only a MUI item in the middle of the menu.

And BTW, you can always open the MUI settings from the window title button if you enable it in the global MUI settings.

Yes I know it was Preferences memu and Settings was an item. I was writing from memory on OS4. Should have looked it up.

The section between the bars with the MUI item is what I call the MUI section. Because MUI is in that section.

I note that you are missing a "Screenmode..." item. Which on OS4 opens up a MUI Screenmode window. More reason why I call that the MUI section. Yes Settings pertains to IBrowse itself.

My MUI gadgets in the title bar are missing so will check I have them enabled in MUI Settings as well.

@All

Well the problem is still not resolved and today I will be having another look at it. I will be reviewing the entries in this thread. The answer has to be somewhere.

@Hypex

You could try to delete/rename ENV(ARC):MUI/IBROWSE.prefs to let IBrowse use the global settings instead of you probably custom ones just for IBrowse.

If the title bar gadget for MUI prefs is enabled globally it will appear for IBrowse as well.
