Yes, you read right! Brian Bagnall's cancelled book, "Commodore: The Amiga Years," is uncancelled and is back for pre-order at Amazon.com. Go to

http://www.amazon.com/Commodore-Amiga-Years-Brian-Bagnall/dp/0994031009/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1432530897&sr=8-1&keywords=commodore+the+amiga+years

The book is the second in the series, the first being "Commodore: A Company on the Edge." The first book covered Commodore Business Machines from 1973 to 1984. The second book should cover CBM from 1984 to 1994. The first book was an expansion of first half of the original, single book, "On the Edge: the Spectacular Rise and Fall of Commodore."

If the second book expands on what was related in the last half of "On the Edge," then not only is the story of the Amiga told but also the stories of CBM's other computers in those later years -- the Commodore 128, the Commodore LCD, the Commodore 900, the Commodore 65, the Commodore 64GS, and the Commodore 64C.

@RobertB

Thanks for telling us. Excellent news. And uncancelled, is that a word?

Now how many Amiga friends do I have for this Christmas list?

BTW, I never got the C65 naming. Seems like the marketing department didn't know that 65 is not a multiple of two nor divisible by two. The same thing I would have told my friend who wanted to create a game he called C69 Defender. LOL.

I hope I can buy the book from a decent company in the future. Amazon can get ****** as far as I'm concerned.

@RobertB

Bagnall's Twitter page says a Kickstarter for this begins on 15th June. It would be much better to hold out for that and you might get extra goodies!

Just added to my Amazon wish list. Have the other books so will get this to go with them.

@Thead

We're coming up to the moment of truth for Bagnall and his unpublished odyssey of a book; Commodore: The Amiga Years! It should be live on Kickstarter tomorrow!

Shucks, it now looks like this is delayed until after Christmas Lets hope it's ready in time for my birthday in February.

On the positive side the reason for the delay is the increase in the number of interviews and material he has collected! It should be a better product in the end.

Forget pre-ordering, Brian's book is available in the UK NOW! It's only £21.36 from the Book Depository which is £2.62 less than the Kickstarter backers paid (although the exchange rate was probably better 2 years ago ) Yes the backers get a bookmark and the ebook version of the the next installment completing the story up until 1994 (this book seems to finish in 1987 ), but other than that you've all done the right thing BY NOT BACKING THIS BOOK! Yes it's his first Kickstarter but the UK backers have been victims of Royal Mail bureaucracy and Brian NOT being Mr Logistics in this matter

We'll be lucky to get the book by Christmas but you clever NON-BACKERS can buy it today! Just promise to tell me what's like as I've literally been waiting over two years to find out and now I find out I've paid for the privilege of waiting a bit longer!!!!!

So here's the Amazon UK LINK

Oh yeah, I forget I also get an Agnus Chip Poster and some replica C= business cards to sweeten the deal so all is forgiven?

@BigD

The same happened with Wings. The early buyers / those who preordered are the last ones to get the product. Is that a new trend ?

@Tomppeli

I think it boils down to greed and the temptation to prioritise keeping global suppliers happy rather than the Kickstarter backers that made the product possible! It is easier to keep the backers happy with a digital product by giving the backers access to beta builds of the game as per Tower 57. I'm surprised that this did not occur for Wings. A book is a large physical item that demands research on the logistics of shipping early on in the project, I'm surprised that research was lacking

I think it's in the same category as 'unminimized' and 'unmaximized'. This makes perfect sense to the UI designers among us.

The book: I read the original, and it was good. I skipped the second, not caring all that much about pre-Amiga Commodore, but I might get this one. I still have a bookmark in the MIT book, whatever that was called. I have it around here somewhere; I should try to find it and finish reading it.

Glad you managed to get it reasonably cheaper. It was being sold at Amiga32 for about 35 euro where I managed to pick up a copy.
