AfricaMOS 30k+ downloads?

Was looking Aminet downloads a bit and noticed this interesting thing there.

in this year released Africa board games MOS version:
http://aminet.net/search?query=africa
has over 30 000 downloads.

When considering that there are only 3 000 registered MorphOS users if i correctly recall, that means each registered MorphOS user would have downloaded that game 10 times.

Hence I wonder what is the reason for this.

Other Africa versions seem to be around 3 000 and 5 000 Downloads, which i a huge number too, but this MOS specifically does in way of 10 times more.

Are those Bots harvesting anything with Africa so much, or are there board game people looking for that game and find it from Aminet and dont realise they dont get it to work on their PCs or something, or what?

Bot Africa theory gets bit crunched because other Africa named files dont get same downloads as these ones are.

Another comparison could be Who Becomes Amiga Guru, also released on 2015, have got good amount of exposure etc. and it has around 300 + downloads for each different version (4 different versions).

Any ideas how to explain those huge download numbers?

@Bugala

This number of downloads does not correspond to the latest version, it includes all possibly versions since the beginning. Therefore, if the author replaced the file multiple times (as many do), then the counter will still resume from the last number and it will not start from the beginning again.

@Phantom

ah, that would explain it.

Although it still does make it quite popular game that people actually wanted to come again and again to update the game.

I'm not sure if the download numbers are correct on files older than a certain date either.

Aminet was moved and changed drastically some years ago. Not sure if the old download numbers before that date is included. It also looks like Aminet has dwindled a bit too.

By the way, why have all the files on page 1 been downloaded ten times more than the files on page 2 to 5?

@Hillbillylitre

Thats a good notice.

I could imagine part of it is that people might go to check what is inside some category instead of searching for something specific and hence they only pick stuff from first page, bit like in Google searches.

However, 10 times difference is bit too big difference to be explained by that alone.

@Bugala

It is either bots or people think it is for Windows. My Basilisk II port received insane number of downloads, too.
