I considered Hurrican, but it's a clone rather than a remake/replacement engine.

Slight sidebar, but Im not a big fan. It's pretty slick, and aesthetics aren't bad, but it forgot about gameplay and there's no real imagination behind it. Both are important to a Turrican game.
