| I'm wondering if it's a joke or anything else :
Some sofware are TBA (To Be Announced) since months in AmiStore.
Score Mplayer (will never be sold on AmiStore and I paid for it) DvPlayer (I don't think this one will ever see an update) Radiance (ha ha ha ha ha) Video Collection (???) Prisma Megamix (card is styill not available) Alladin 4D ImageFX Studio MultiViewer NG (only this one should be available soon)
Why do A-Eon keep most of these in AmiStore. Why not include them WHEN they are really available ? What is the purpose of letting them for months with TBA ?
Radiance was first advertised in november 2014 (Amiga Future 111 with "available on AmiStore" written at the bottom of the ad).
It's not really serious IMHO. _________________ PowerMac G5 2,7Ghz - 2GB - Radeon 9650 - MorphOS 3.14 AmigaONE X1000, 2GB, Sapphire Radeon HD 7700 FPGA Replay + DB 68060 at 85Mhz |

As it is not sold yet, I don´t see problem there. |

Ah. Sorry but what is the puprose to announce the availability of software in magazines since months, present them in AmiStore, declare them To Be Announced for months and not giving any news about their development ?
I know you are eager to defend ABSOLUTELTY anything A-Eon is doing but you should questionning yourself about some topics anyway.
No, it is not serious to let software in TBA state for months in an appstore. I haven't seen this in any other appstore. _________________ PowerMac G5 2,7Ghz - 2GB - Radeon 9650 - MorphOS 3.14 AmigaONE X1000, 2GB, Sapphire Radeon HD 7700 FPGA Replay + DB 68060 at 85Mhz |

I don´t think you got what was my point. Selling software not available yet - that is wrong (I don´t like these pre-pay schemes). Announcing something and not delivering is unfortunate, but common in Amiga land. |

Unfortunate, yes but with AmiStore being a big project made by serious people, this should not be the case. A-Eon wants to be taken seriously, they should not act like this with AmiStore (even if it's not their fault if the sofware is not yet done).
Just take away all those programs not yet available and include them when they are ready. I still think it is not serious to let these software in this state._________________ PowerMac G5 2,7Ghz - 2GB - Radeon 9650 - MorphOS 3.14 AmigaONE X1000, 2GB, Sapphire Radeon HD 7700 FPGA Replay + DB 68060 at 85Mhz |

Ask A-Eon about your concerns. They could change current state, or not. |

A-Eon will not answer. I'd rather know what others think about this topic. _________________ PowerMac G5 2,7Ghz - 2GB - Radeon 9650 - MorphOS 3.14 AmigaONE X1000, 2GB, Sapphire Radeon HD 7700 FPGA Replay + DB 68060 at 85Mhz |

Err. Stop defending A-Eon for anything.
Just read the end of me former message. _________________ PowerMac G5 2,7Ghz - 2GB - Radeon 9650 - MorphOS 3.14 AmigaONE X1000, 2GB, Sapphire Radeon HD 7700 FPGA Replay + DB 68060 at 85Mhz |

I do to a certain extent understand the point of TBA. Aeon/Amigakit have bought the rights for several programs and have inentions to update them when developers have the time to do so. Having the programs listed as TBA atleast gives AmigaStore users an idea of programs that will be relased EVENTUALLY.
This model isn't unheard of. Take Steam. They do actually have pre-purchase of games that are still x weeks or even months away from release date. Users can flag the program/game with a "wishlist" flag, so you can keep up with development and release date. In my mind its actually a useful feature.
Granted, AmigaStore is much smaller, and the % of total programs vs TBA is massive compared to Steam store.
Overall Im completely ok with including TBA. |

You didn´t answer my previous question. If you think it is so great problem (me not) and are shy to contact A-Eon directly, I will do it for you myself. Last edited by pavlor on 13-Jun-2015 at 10:37 AM.

pavlor, I do have to agree with K-L. He raised a valid question about the model and functionality of AmiStore.
If anything, such questions might actually give A-Eon new ideas of features to add to the store. (obviously K-L rather have more programs available on Amistore, but that's a different topic ) |

Since A-Eon is the owner of AW, I think they've already seen the question, don't you think ? (BTW AmigaKit and Trevor are here too ).
I think it'd be better to have only real available progams on AmiStore and take away from the store those that are not (and may never be) available.
Regarding MPlayer : it will never be sold on AmiStore and I paid for it at the launch of AmiStore. It is now developped indepently by LiveForIt (and I paid a huge amount for Feanor's optimizations that I'm pretty sure will never give us any speed improvements).
Regarding DvPlayer : I'm pretty sure it will never be updated and with AmigaOS 4.1 FE, 0.76 doesn't work correctly. _________________ PowerMac G5 2,7Ghz - 2GB - Radeon 9650 - MorphOS 3.14 AmigaONE X1000, 2GB, Sapphire Radeon HD 7700 FPGA Replay + DB 68060 at 85Mhz |

Well, both Amigaworld.net and Amiga.org is owned by A-Eon/Kit, so asking questions here regarding their products should be enough.
As long as the topic is given a good headline and the question is raised in a reasonable manner, I would not be surprised to see AeonKit respond.
Tbh I think my point of view is close to what AeonKit thinks on the matter |

Im curious tho, why is TBA a problem tho?
Is it like we are a kid standing outside a candyshop, looking thru the glass. See all the good stuff listed, but we cant touch it?
Apart from that small annoyance, I don't see the problem tho. |

It's interesting the "no public discussions" policy certain people have here. This of course only applies to criticism, singing praises is always allowed. _________________ This is just like television, only you can see much further. |

Indeed. I was a bit puzzled over pavlors reaction.
Any company/developer depends on feedpack to improve their product(s), AeonKit included. |

Because otherwise people complain for them not speaking and not announcing anything, no news, no roadmaps etc. you can find fine examples of that in this very site

Its a problem because as some point it simply becomes silly. Why have something on 'coming soon' for months? It make more sense to see it advertised within a month of release maximum. Beyond that some people will start to see this as a little unprofessional and badly planned.
Also - with regards to Radiance - some people are holding off buying some of the components which are already available so they can purchase the complete package.
I can only guess Radiance was close to release but one of the developers has had to halt work for some reason.
I certainly don't want to detract from the brilliance of everything AmigaKit and A-Eon have done however - the TBA problem on AmiStore is a minor thing overall. _________________ Sam |
