@blizz1220

I have not (but I have not asked either). But I assume that Amiga Inc. long would have sued them if they had no documents. The best would have been if both the old kickstarts and 3.1. would have made opensource or at least freeware but is not and never will (the same for the brand name "amiga"). One of the reason why I started to play around with rom replacements and Aros 68k. And today I do not care anymore, the only place where I still have use for the original roms is in the internal distribution as part of WHDLoad because with rom replacements many games work but not all.

@OlafS25

I'll try to simplify this with a post in the on topic thread, since this thread is going off-topic.

Can anyone confirm?

If you can speak/translate German...

http://www.appdated.de/2015/10/gute-nachricht-commodore-pet-smartphone-endlich-eingetroffen/

But basically yes, shipping started.

@paolone

Thank you.

Yes we're looking at all the postings and articles and translating.

Can you say whether they shipped with the Roms?

As previously stated, the Commodore Pet provides AROS ROMs only, for A500/A1200 emulation.

Understood.

Will Amibyte be listing the product again once any prior concerns they might have had are satisfactorily addressed?

Will there be something regarding the status change to "shipping", in print soon in english? I assume so, since you have a lot of prior coverage to "correct".

Edit:changed topic back to "Commodore PET Android 5 Smartphone by CBM Ltd. London" from mcb's last topic change to "moral compass"

So there's no emulation of CBM 8bit computers?

have you evaluated how usable is aros rom in order to provide satisfactory amiga gaming experience, because this is what general public presumably associates with what amiga was good for. i doubt people want to run amiga or aros productivity apps on phones. how is the input solved? winuae is not usable with touch controls on my surface, i need to use mouse and keyboard. and if aros rom is expected to be replaced with actualy amiga rom by the user, why to include it in first place?

from my perspective if starting such project some work should be invested first into aros rom to improve compatibility and complete the missing features. if this device is advertised as amiga compatible, even if by means of emulation, that is.

Sorry to repeat something of which you are obviously completely aware...

https://www.commodore-pet.com/opposition-from-choldings-bv/

is leaving an impression on anyone who views this as contrary to anything you or Massimo might say about the serious nature of your endeavor.

I also find it a bit "pot kettle black" for Massimo and others to make remarks about the appearance of the Commodore Holdings B.V. website, when your own website is in such disrepair.

have you ever looked at the other page of that company that is claiming to own "Commodore"? Last news from 2013 and links do not work... I do not understand why you are so active there

That news is filled with adds for various drugs to keep future
customers happy I guess

AROS Roms are more than good enough because not every single
Amiga game can be shipped (permission of owner needed) and apart
from that people screaming "scam! scam!" don't really help company
trying to establish itself lol.

Same thing happened before (CUSA ahem) and they were blessed with
paper license from the righteous owners of everything Commodore at
the time.

I'd like to see someone using this phone in youtube video (somebody who
ordered one if possible) before I decide if I like it.

What was that about topic change ???

@blizz1220 & others

Everything related to the use of our trademark has obviouly been evaluated, and is still followed, by our lawyers. And when I say 'our trademark' I mean the one we - as CBM Ltd - registered on march. C=Holdings BV could make an opposition to the OHIM like anyone else could, however this does not mean that the same opposition has been accepted or became effective. CBM is fully operational.

About our website, yeah, we know, it sucks. That's why we are rebuilding it from scratch, piece after piece. Works on it will become visible in the next days, for now we are more focused in shipping the phones to everyone has bought one.

About AROS ROMs and emulation in general: we believe AROS ROMs are perfectly suitable and crafted enough for the compatibility degree we are aiming to. For much unpleasant it can sound, the PET is not a "tailored to old games and nostalgia" device, but it's a mid-level smartphone aimed at replacing your current, average mid-to-high-level smartphone in everydays job. Whoever wants a "perfect" emulation with classic Commodore ROMs, can always buy them from Cloanto, at the Google Play Store. We will obviously still follow AROS developments and we will make improvements avaliable to PET users as well.

Thanks for clarification and good luck , I might need new
android soon and I like battery design.I wouldn't expect
it to be anything other then phone but when company
started I was curious what was it about.Hope opposition
procedure ends and puts end to all rumors running around.

Making Paypal work for me will be more troublesome , I
might just wait when near by country gets them.

Wish you lots of sales.

EDIT : I have ***** Commodore Roms already !
I'll start a blog about the fact that people who own
real Amigas HAVE LEGAL RIGHT to get those from
wherever at my own responsibility !

mkay. I see the pages have been reworked:

http://commodoresmart.com/

Also an article yesterday making a favorable comparison:

Quote:
The only currently available phone matching the PET is the LG Electronics G4 Dual-SIM but that starts at 500 Euro. That's a lot more than the 368 Euro CBM wants.

Source

And a link back to the new FAQ:

Quote:
Q: I've bought a phone from the Commodore E-shop, how long does it take for the device shipping?
A: Commodore PET shipping for orders from the e-shop now takes 10 working days. We want to thank you everyone that have had to wait for the first PET delivery after the long pre-order phase. We have launched PET pre-orders on mid summer 2015 and now we can announce that the first delivery phase has been planning to be finished in October 2015 because of the huge and unexpected amount of orders. Commodore PET is now in stock and it can be in yours in 10 working days.

Although it may be common knowledge? as to what transpired during 2016-yesterday, I'll post this link, which when translated, should be fairly clear:

info about the smartphone, Polabe, and Jens

above info related to this post

@thread

Another instance of C=Holdings B.V. defending trademark via the mail to Dallas Moore.

Source

Once again the posting is merely to point out that C=Holdings B.V. was again defending their trademark(s) in a period stated to be 2 years after they sold same to Polabe.

In addition the following website still shows the information indicating the result of the court.

http://www.commodorecorp.com/

Note the email address is exactly the same as the email address supplied in the info about Polabe, supplied on the Individual Computers website. It is also mentioned on that site that the company is in Luxembourg, whereas:

https://opencorporates.com/companies/be/0553801902

Quote:
Jurisdiction - Belgium
Branch - Branch of Netherlands company
Registered Address - San Barbola 260 - Aruba

In addition this seems to show some useful info:
http://commodorecorp.com.w3lookup.net/

Polabe and "brand" is mentioned on the WIPO site for Global Brand Database.
Unfortunately this is not a postable link (for me), so you have to visit the site.

Posting of all the above is simply in response to lack of any information on other sites and questions I've read asking about the new "owners".
Clarification from Commodore greatly encouraged.

welcome back. great to see your return!

what actually happened with the 'commodore'-branded phone, anyway? did it ever ship to customers? was there anything different than the chinese reference phone on which it was based to make it unique? is paolo still involved with those guys?
