I hope they understand the size of the project they have announced. It would be a shame if, after several years of development, they have to admit that it's just too much work writing an accurate 68k emulator for a foreign CPU.

| @Hondo,
This project was announced a while back. Never seen a review so I am a skeptic.

| Projects like these doesn't make sense. Today you can get a Compute Stick for $110-$150, put WinUAE, plug on your big TV through the HDMI cable, and you've something which is able to emulate also AGA. |

Yes. It a Raspberry PI with a custom floppy controller board on the expansion header. |

Its a interesting little project, I been following it, but cant help but feel the system is a little over price. One guy got a Mini Armiga here and takes it apart.

its basically a Cubieboard2 (which you can get for about £40, something like a Raspberry pi) with a nice printed Amiga stly case with a slight custom version of UAE4All running on it, not a bad idea but needs a bit more work and should a little less pricey.
The other version is abit more impressive, with a custom floppy controller and drive, its all a nice idea but cant help but feel the mini mig is a better way to go.

The creators of the Armiga have forged on, and now these tiny little boxes of guru meditation have started shipping. The Beta units have sold out and there's a waiting list for more. |

It's also shown working with the PI. I did see another board but didn't know what it was and didn't know which they went with in the final version. When they had the Indiegogo there was the option to buy the floppy controller on it own so I asume you could use it with either board. |

They failed because the only unique selling point for this Amiga 500 emulation over most others was the inclusion of a floppy drive. However from the footnotes of the original campaign "Currently, Armiga does only read and dump unprotected/cracked games. Copy protection was quite an art in the times of the Amiga and it's difficult to overcome." So if you had a collection of original games software it was unlikely to work with the Armiga. If you did still have disks chances are good you still had an Amiga to go with them and if it was broken you'd be better off getting it repaired or buying a second hand real A500, A600 or A1200 than spending that sort of money on a ARM SBC with a floppy drive in a case.
It wouldn't surprise me if the Amiga trademark owner took a dim view of this product. Given some recent cases of trademark infringements how they hope to get away with that name is beyond me. |

I welcome the project. I actually want one and I think the project is great. I want a device to read my old Amiga disks. The Minimig fails short in my opinion because it doesn't have disk drive or hard drive support.
I don't know how someone can sue the creators because I own an Amax II. I bought Apple roms and it was put into a board and the serial port on the Amiga read the rom into ram and you had to have Mac software configured but I had a Mac running on my Amiga at one point. Apple couldn't sue Readysoft which were the makers of the emulator.
