Wow, too much to do, too little time at the Computer History Museum today. See my photos at

http://blog.retro-link.com/2015/07/amiga-30th-in-california-pre-show-photos.html

Now trying to get some sleep before a busy Amiga 30th day tomorrow,

@RobertB

I hope you were so smart to advice local and state media of the event by sending them enough press releases...

@RobertB

Thank you Robert

Can you tell us more about your pic n. 27?

It shows the new AmigaOne X5000 from A-Eon but there's a new hardware on its side and the folder on the table is talking about 2 new hw machines (one is surely the X5000) as well as new features of AmigaOS 4.1...

Do you have a hi-res version of this photo?

That's Hyperions table (Steven Solie) & thats his A500. A-eon's table is #28 & nothing new was shown by Trevor. I was there for 1 day, Sunday.

@sundown

Understood, thank you

But the other one was a X5000? I saw on the monitor its reference manual in pdf format.

Did you try it?

Yes, one of the other developers brought his x5000 up with him, that one was his. Never played with it or any other yet. Typing this on an x1000, so I would assume the x5000 would feel the same. I can't afford both like some lucky ppl can, that & trying to beta test 2 systems. I also have a SAM flex @ 733MH & the difference is like night & day speed wise.

Yes have they won the million prize lottery or something?

I wonder how many hours and weeks a normal human being have to work to save up money for something like that. I know lottery millionaires tend to act irrational but one thing is for sure, if ME had won the lottery the money had gone to something completely different.

@Rudei

I run a Amiga 1200 I bought in 1992 and expanded and used as main computer until around 1999-2003 me think. First with a 68030 card and later a 68060 and RTG.

And my most used main computer today is a normal ~$500 PC I bought around 2010, good for WinUAE, gaming, graphics, music and much more, and before this I had another PC.

In my case I had an old truck & the State had a buy back option to get old cars off the road. Took it to the drop-off yard after getting approval & was handed a $1000 check on the spot. This also saved me insurance & repair costs that allowed me to join the x1000 beta program with a discount. Had some extra money to cover the rest, no such luck with the x5000, but happy with the x1000 & I still test updates best I can.

Guess the moral of this story is you need to get lucky at the right time.

When governments do things like that it's because they want you to update or get a new car. I hope you weren't stuck at home after this, I mean transport in a form or another is a necessary thing in today's society, its almost as necessary as food... well, if you and your people have everything around you in a walking distance its perhaps not strictly necessary. The same applies to a computer but it assumes that the computer is updated for today's society, especially now when much happens over the internet.
