Hello everyone,
Decided to go for warp 3D from amistore. I already have the latest radeon drivers installed. Bought a MSI Radeon R9 270x graphics card which is compatible with the warp 3d . I get the early boot screens and the red bar at the bottom goes from left to right, but then am left with blank display when Workbench should appear.
I put my radeon 6870 back in and it boots fine.
I am also running OS4.1 FE.
Thanks.

@electric-magic

Not surprised at all to hear you are having issues with this combo. Your issue with your 270X series card has been detailed by me and others on the official Hyperion X1000 support forums too with no resolution that I am aware of so far:

http://forum.hyperion-entertainment.biz//viewtopic.php?f=33&t=2960

I also covered it in my blog, trying to get a 270X to work on my X1000, where it ultimately all went very wrong for me:

http://amigax1000.blogspot.com.au/2015/04/x1000-troubleshooting-and-repair-part-1.html

Of course, your mileage may well vary but I wanted to explain that people have had issues getting the 270X working in the X1000.

In my case I was very unlucky, and my ultimate X1000 problems likely caused by a power cut while flashing the CFE were unrelated to the graphic card itself. However, the card not working initially on the X1000 under AmigaOS 4.1 Final Edition is relevant to your question so I include it in case it helps.

If you have followed all the steps needed to setup the AmigaOS 4.1 FE devs:monitors files and still get the same black screen results, then I would suggest promptly returning the card and getting a MSI R9 270 (not X) or a lower compatible model.

Alternatively if not possible to return then check carefully which specific brand and model cards have been confirmed working in the forums, and get one of those. The driver seems to be picky about which vendor/model combination cards actually work.

I also have a Sam 460CR and bought a 1 slot Sapphire Radeon 7750 card that worked for me. Information on that is here if this is helpful:

http://amigax1000.blogspot.com.au/2015/06/warp3d-working-on-my-sam460cr.html

Amigakit also sell a "confirmed compatible" warp3d SI card on their online shop that is suitable for an X1000 system. I have already bought one of these cards, but can't try it out as I don't have my X1000 yet to test it on, but I expect it should work.

Good luck!

Catcha,
Epsilon

@electric-magic

I had a sapphire dual-x r9 270x 2gb in my old x1000. That worked nicely.

With radeonhd 2.10 and latest warp3d. Running on x1000 and sapphire dual-x r9 270x.
Ioquake3 = 73.4fps
Cow3d = 186fps( with b 194/5fps)

I'm now running r9 280x from sapphire.

Do you know if there's the same problem with R9 280 gfx?

@kyle

No sorry, I don't have that 280(X) model myself so I don't know.

@antique

Glad to hear your 280X card works. Surprised that the 270X worked for you!

Because the 270X cost me a lot of money initially and had the issues I covered in my blog, I wasn't willing to gamble on buying a higher spec supported 280X card and hoping it worked. At the time there was a lot less info than now about which vendor models within each supported card type actually worked. The forums now contain plenty of info from people who tried them out, e.g.:

http://www.amigans.net/modules/xforum/viewtopic.php?start=0&topic_id=6899&viewmode=&order=ASC&type=&mode=0

Hans also maintains a list of Radeon HD compatible cards on his website (not Warp3D specific so focus on the series cards that is supported by Warp3D - note that 270X/280 models were not tested in there. I should have checked this first... Sapphire 280X Antique mentioned was tested ok on this list.

http://hdrlab.org.nz/projects/amiga-os-4-projects/radeonhd-driver/radeonhd-driver-hardware-compatibility/

As I said, your mileage may vary. It is picky which ones work and which ones don't. Buy a specific vendor and model card that other people have confirmed works in an X1000.

I guess I am just urging caution to avoid losing money trying multiple cards until one worked, as I ended up doing.

Thanks for all the info, much appreciated.
I suppose we all guinea pigs testing and all that.
Good news that a 270x has been working on a x1000.
Steve Solie has suggested to capture the serial output during boot and see if you can find something in there.
Thanks to all who have replied (looks like I might have to return the card though :( 20 euro

Could you run this past me again.

"If you have followed all the steps needed to setup the AmigaOS 4.1 FE devs:monitors files"

Not quite sure how to do this.
In my devs:monitors I have "radeon" and "radeon HD 6800 series" and the graphics card a 6870.

Thanks.

Έλα κουμπάρε...

I'm using an ASUS R9 270 without any problems with my X1000. If you still have problems with 270X why not replacing it, if you can return it back of course.

I also bought a R9 270X to use in my X1000. It also did not work, with same results as you. Had to return that card for a refund.

Now I have an R9 270 and it works fine with AmigaOS and newest drivers in my X1000.

I am quite convinced that R9 270X cards are not compatible at this time. Someone will have to prove it to me otherwise. X .... does not like the X!

Best of luck.

@electric-magic

Sorry, my mistake I just realized that you speak about R9-270X and not R7-250X (like mine)

Shame on me... I go out quietly...
