@g01df1sh

And how on earth are you going to connect a Classic mobo with composite video output to a TFT screen? How are you going to connect a USB keyboard and trackpad? How are you going to connect a SATA HDD?

Connecting a Classic mobo (even if you can find one in working order) to a modern set of peripherals is out of the question. It would have to be a NG mobo or nothing.

With an RGB to LVDS converter board.

Probably not that difficult to solve, especially if the A600 has the some keyboard controller chip as the A1200.

With an IDE to SATA adapter or just stick a CF card in there since you're not going to need huge amounts of storage or anything particularly fast with an A600.

The biggest probably I see is trying to fit the A600 in a laptop case. Basically you really need to fab something yourself like Rigo did or opt for 3D printing a bespoke case.

@Rob

Thinking about it, you probably only have to make a new lower half of the shell if going for the option of 3D printing.

@tonyw

Oh ye of little imagination. At 2.2 inches thick and 18 inches diagonal (which means more than 40cm wide) it should be plenty for an Amiga.

Something similar to this will take care of the LVDS for the LCD:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/HDMI-VGA-AV-LCD-Controller-for-LG-PHILIPS-LP156WH4-TL-A1-LED-Screen-1366x768-/271219159403

SATA isn't strictly needed, but this'll take care of it if you must:
http://www.amazon.com/2-5-SATA-SSD-Drive-Adapter/dp/B0049D7PCU/ref=pd_sim_147_9?ie=UTF8&refRID=1YTP65H53V7QJACAPSYG

Trackpad and keyboard TYPICALLY aren't USB in a laptop (the chipsets still have PS2 available even now), but both PS2 and USB can be handled with more converters. Don't think problem, think challenge

@AmigaBlitter

I don't quite see the point in linking to people assembling barebones computers in a discussion about fitting classic Amigas in laptop shells.

@AmigaBlitter

The motherboard design houses in Taiwan leak IP like a sock leaks water. I've studied my own laptop schematic back and forth for quite some time to learn more about all sorts of components

I admit it, I'm an unrepentant NG fanboy !!

Look at the size of a Sam 440 EP (17 cm square and a complete computer). If I were going to squash something into a laptop case, that's where I'd start.

@tonyw

The Sam440ep would be my starting point too and I have a spare waiting for a laptop housing

you not hear of Adaptor and you can use usb on AMIGA 600 AND 1200 and i think on a500 FROM http://amigakit.com and you can use DVI to VGA.. Adapter for hard drive you can use cf card or sd card and to replace trackpad with mouse for amiga or use a pc with Adaptor but lap top cost from $289999
be to high price to pay

Threads like these remind me always how to make problems yourself. Using a laptop still a dream..? No. There is UAE. I used my first "Amiga laptop" in 2001 (some Vaio), UAE on that old machine was much faster than real 68k ever was.
And since a few years I use this nice Powerbook with MorphOS. Great Machine.
So why bothering? If you want a laptop there are your options: UAE, AROS, MorphOS. Done.

@Zylesea

Because that is cheating emulation is OK but the real challenge is native OS no emulation or no host OS. FPGA is ok

@g01df1sh

I don't believe emulation is cheating as it is an awesome way to get an Amiga laptop, even OS4.1.

However OS4.1fe on native PPC hardware laptop just doesn't exist and so many want it to.

I have used most versions of AmigaOS from version 2.04 all the way up to OS4.1 and love them all for differing reasons.

I have also used emulated versions of the OS as well as MorphOS (3 machines) and AROS.

I believe I have experienced the best the AmigaOS/Amiga like OSs have to offer and love them all.

The question is can we have a native PPC laptop running OS4.1fe?

@1Mouse

Morphos on my macbook is ok but has to many bits missing for me to pay for full version. might if the price was the same as os4.1fe.

Things missing

Battery meter
volume control via keybaord
better uae intergration eg. double click adf and game / app loads

I have not used it for awhile so cant remember all the little niggles i had with it.

But it was fantastic to see wifi working out the box well done to who ever did that driver.

@g01df1sh

Now put a Sam440ep in a laptop case running OS4.1fe add a wi-fi card and the MorphOS wi-fi driver and I'll be over the moon.

My Sam440 did me proud til I upgraded to a Sam460cr which, unfortunately, has no working sound.

I have the board if someone can find/make a laptop case.

Someone tell me of a laptop case it will fit and I'll give it a go myself.

Dunno if supported on all powerbooks or ibooks (I have an 1.67GHz Pb) but the screen bar plugin "energy" fits my needs (current battery state 95% full), also F3-F5 are changing sound settings here directly (F3 mute on/off, F4 increase Volume, F5 decrease) and launchinmg adfs is handled by Ambinet with a right click context menu asking me whether to launch as A500 or A1200 (but I don't run many adfs, hence that feature is not much used by me and only configured on my mini).
