@K-L

I've got this Enhancer_Plus 1.2 Time Prefs now, but it doesn't let me subtract 10 hours from Greenwich the way the old one did. No fair!

@kilaueabart

It duplicates a lot of OS4 functionality in an incompatible way. I'm not sure if it conflicts with the similar OS features, probably not as this should have been tested, but personally I quickly uninstalled it and continue to use the OS time sync and DST functionality (along with yfacts, which is the missing bit to keep the clock in sync).

Great for OS3, when that Enhancer Pack is released, but mostly pointless on OS4.

@kilaueabart

AEon Time Prefs works as Hyperion one. No problem for me, I use fr.pool.ntp.org ntp server with a check at every boot.

"but it doesn't let me subtract 10 hours from Greenwich the way the old one did. No fair!"

If I understand correctly, it's not (AEon or Hyperion) Time Prefs that set the hour shift, it's Locale Prefs / TimeZone.

OS3 doesn't have time sync or DST changes built into the OS, so it's (or will be) a useful addition.

@zzd10h

OK, thanks for that. Time is finally correct, at the moment anyway. I can't imagine how Locale > TimeZone got mis-set. I had already been puzzled by the -5 hours from GMT my clock was giving me instead of being right on it.

But OK, computers have been mystifying me since 1968. I'm used to it.

This is just too bizarre! Yesterday when I turned the machine on, I was delighted to see it come up immediately with the correct time. Or so I thought, but by the time I had confirmed that by looking at my watch, the on-screen time had jumped ahead about ten hours and a few minutes.

I tested with a warm reboot. When that came up with the late time, I tried the reset button for a "cold" reboot. Same very wrong time.

When I rebooted just now about 12 hours after shutting down last night, I watched closely and was again please to see the correct time, but in probably no more than a second it went foul again. As I type this, the real time is 10:39:20 but both clocks on Workbench read 20:28:45.

Once I reset it with Time Prefs, I know from yesterday's experience that they will continue to report the actual time the rest of the day. (Well, I will have to check what happens with reboots, after I post this.)
