may be, but he is just making points, he has not designed anything to be worth being discussed here. majsta did. instead discussing it here would be best to pick up direct contact abd discuss it between developers.

Apollo 060 with PIV says also Phone Me Now!

Just tell the number;)

Many Years ago + Today. For Amiga hobby better slower so not so flaky.

AmigaOne and the pc over ruled.

A500 + A1200 regular (with extramem+a little turbo+dd+ARIV) chained wins;)

Well, Im defintly lining up for a A1200 accelerator, regardless of possible future tweaks or improvements.
If I wait for the "perfect" product, I will end up never buying anything.

So, Im with you in that regard.

@wawa

So how many working PPC designs do you have under your belt? How many successful FPGA designs?

I was actually just making an observation to the effect that "I don't know what he's done for his V2, but I urge anyone who designs FPGA Amiga clones from now on to look at more recent memory technology, as it gives a lot more RAM per buck" (pun intended, though probably not very cool).

I don't see how you could possibly try to discredit me as an ACTUAL PPC/FPGA PCB designer (schematics to layout to bringup is my job) from making such an observation. I really don't see how that would work.

This is a good idea. If current solution scratches an itch, don't hold out for a _possible_ future improvement.

On the other hand, those who make stuff should refrain from prematurely announcing future improvements, simply to avoid people holding out for them

I do not think there will anyone will change hardware now when the test phase is running for some time. But in future there will be different new options certainly. FPGA world never sleeps . But I do not need to tell you that

So the word "euphoric" meaning something like...

- condition in which a person experiences intense feelings of well-being, elation, happiness, excitement and joy

Has anyone heard anything about the beta board once announced on the Apollo forums site, which now seems very blank?

IIRC that was for the A500 Apollo+BeMicro sandwich solution. Focus seems to have switched to the Vampire 2 with its larger FPGA offering great opportunities. A small number of Vampire 2 boards have been made for the core developers and a few bug hunters and Majsta is busy working on the final production version of the Vampire 2 for the A600. An A500 solution will have to wait.

@IanP

so for us with A500 or A1200 we can look for other solutions. :(

Hopefully the wait for A500, A1200 and big box versions wont be too long. A lot of the ground work for an A500 version has been done for the Vampire but orders for the A600 version have already been taken and paid for so that comes first.

Yeah, I find it rather disturbing how unwilling they are to show actual software using 030/040/060 compatibility. Still never seen OS3.9 running on Apollo.

@kolla

In thread on EAB, they show video with ADoom 1.4. Framerate is cca 20-25 FPS - comparable to ADoom 1.3 on 68060 50 MHz and AGA. As GFX is slow in this case (EHB on A600), used CPU must be significantly more powerful than 68060 50 MHz.
