Gorky 17 release imminent

Hyperion Entertainment is very pleased to announce the imminent release of the long awaited adventure/strategy/RPG crossover game Gorky 17 originally by Metropolis Software House for AmigaOS! After changeful 12 years since its original announcement, the AmigaOS port of Gorky 17 became almost what was Duke Nukem Forever for the PC world. Yet, we made it in two years less ;)

In order to ensure the highest possible quality, Hyperion Entertainment commissioned Frank Menzel and Thomas Claus, who are well known for their original games for AmigaOS 4 under the Entwickler-X label, to stabilize, optimize, enhance and last not least to finalize the AmigaOS port of Gorky 17. The result of their work speaks for itself and shows their high level of professionalism, which allows us now to rightfully claim that the AmigaOS port of Gorky 17 represents the best version of Gorky 17 released on either platform ever!

Exclusive main features of the AmigaOS version:
High resolution support by free choice of screenmode
English, German, Spanish (text & speech) and French (text only)
Mouse wheel support
Highly optimized game engine and video player

Minimum requirements:
Amiga with 500MHz CPU or faster
256MB of memory

Btw the game on its own is €34.99 or about £25.99 which is coincidentally the same price people used to pay for a full price Amiga game back when they were sold in high street retailers.

Yes it's many years overdue, but we in Amiga world are not exactly overrun with new games so its worth supporting what does come out...

Hyperion may need the money from game sales, but the few retailers left also need new products to sell to make it worthwhile their time in their support of selling Amiga products.....

Yeah, £25.99 is reasonable and the game will be a good addition to the platform. This plus M.A.C.E. and Tower 57 are all helping to bring game development back to the Amiga

OK, 35 is fairer.
And I don't intend to needle you (too much).

And never let it be said that I didn't believe the creative people didn't deserve to gain from the fruits of their labor (the last time I was dumb enough to do that I spent days get lectured by the Producer of "The Hurt Locker" only to realize he was right).

More software...good.

For our limited Userbase it is not easy to make a lower price, also the production of the discs and the AmigaShops part have to be calculated. Also the Steam price is currently an offer, tomorrow 5 euros again (ok, also far from 35,- but 1 or two more users there ;) )
And many month of coding and optimizing that it runs of our devices (the code base was terrible and not really aimed for our eco system ;) ).

UAE: Does not much sense if you can get it on the host system.. but it does not run yet, low gfx memory is a problem, also decoding of sound and much more. But Frank is trying to get the needed ressources more down in future. Currently runs well on X1000, Sam460, Sam440, AmigaOne XE, MicroAOne...

@Gorky17: I am glad that it is finished, it was much work to get it run as it runs now. And also if it is a decade to late it is a little pearl, it would be a shame to not bring out.... now looking forward to what other games have to published ;)

Now this is really good news! I have expected this game since the "early days of OS4"! I hope it will also play sufficiently well under weaker NG systems such as my 440ep.

Good to see quality games for the Amiga again, like outrun1978; its long overdue.

If the game is good and entertaining, I dont see an issue with pricing it at the level they set.
For both future OS and game financing.

I was a betatester for Gorky17 and i tested it on my Sam440ep with onboard Radeon. It runs fine even in high resolution mode. And i can promise you this looks a LOT better then the standard 640X480 mode. I was sceptical about getting other screenmodes to work as other programmers who worked on the linux port told me it was practically impossible to change that.. and make it runs fast enough because of reading back from Z-BUFFER is slow, but they actually did it...

People who visited the Amsterdam and/or UK show saw it all running on my SAM440 machine :)

i may be wrong, i played it ages ago on pc, bought on some discount sell out, but as far as i remember this game is surprisingly short, something like five locations altogether. is that right?
