| I noticed that there was a new version of SMTube at OS4Depot, so I downloaded it. I remember having it and liking it in the past; maybe it's one of the things I lost a couple months ago when I messed up my OS4.1FE-installed hard drive on my X1000.
I noticed that system requirements included Qt and FFmpeg. I'm sure I previously had the latter and soon found that I had re-downloaded the archive but not installed it. I don't recall whether I ever had Qt before, but if SMTube requires it, I must have. I downloaded it and it was easy to install, but I can't imagine how I would ever use it, so far.
That was the only thing easy to install. I have no idea how to install SMTube. It came with an Autoinstall file, but I can't figure out how to make it work (Qt had one of those that worked "auto"matically). Clicking on it just makes Multiview read it.
FFmpeg didn't have an autoinstall, and it baffles me too. I have vague memories of using it in the past, but I seem to remember it with a GUI.
Nuts! Maybe I'm just getting too old for this. |

So SMTube doesn't call your PlayVideo.rexx.
Please verify that :
1) Amiga/PlayVideo.rexx & Amiga/DownLoadVideo.rexx exists in SMTube directory.
2) these REXX have well Execute and Script attribute in their .info file.
3) Finally, did you use DOpus to unarchive SMTube package ?

| @zzd10h That post definitely moved things forward. (I was involved in that old thread, but had completely forgotten about it!)
I had to copy libQtCore.so.4.7.0 over from the full Qt to the Minimal, but it turns out I don't really need Minimal at all. I haven't decided which version to keep. For a while rebooting brought an alert about not being able to find Qt: and I should either mount it or assign it. That may be because I had renamed the full Qt to "Qt-4.7full" to keep it distinct from the Minimal version. I added an Assign command to User-startup which finally took care of the problem, but that is no longer necessary I believe.
When I run SMTube I get a bunch of sample videos which play fine. I had the idea that SMTube would also play MP4's, but so far no success with that. If I click on an MP4 file, Multiview throws up an alert: "Unknown data type for [whatever].mp4." Tomorrow I'll run through the instructions again and see if I missed something.

Great, at least for you it's solved.
Regarding MP4, it's MPlayer that should be configured in your def_icons to open MP4 .info file. SMTube is not a video player, it's a YouTube video lister that calls MPlayer to play YouTube videos. _________________ http://apps.amistore.net/zTools |

| @zzd10h Thanks. I sort of suspected that.
I guess I have to do something to
DO WHILE files~=="" files=STRIP(files) IF files~=="" THEN DO IF left(files,1)='"' THEN DO PARSE VAR files '"'file'"' files END ELSE DO PARSE VAR files file" "files END
but so far I can't imagine what. |

Now it works!
I didn't have the execute attribute in PlayVideo.rexx
Thank you for the hint, I don't know why it was without execute attribute... |

Bingo !
there is a bug with NoWinEd, it removes the flags of the edited files..
To conclude, others SMTube users, if you have problem with SMTube AND if you use DOpus or NoWinEd, check the REXX attributes.
Thank you by advance... _________________ http://apps.amistore.net/zTools |
