This is the question I can use the blue boing ball like representative for MorphOS or only the blue butterfly?

@Templario

There is no such thing as a blue boing ball in a MorphOS context. If you want to reference MorphOS it's the blue Morpho butterfly that is used.

Blue Boing Ball was used by Hyperion for announcement of OS4.1 port for Pegasos 2... "Welcome to our world..."

@pavlor

As long as we're discussing this yet again, here are 2 more links with info I have yet to see disputed:

on trademark in general

a different interpretation

Enjoy!

oh wow! We haven't done this topic since earlier this month!

Can I promote Amiga using BoingBall in my cartoon video?

oh...almost forgot. You can also read the posts from the trademark attorney regarding CUSA's perceived rights, in case you prefer that view:

@Templario

If you purpose is to say my software supports MorphOS then use the blue butterfly, as then MorphOS users will recognise it. Why add confusion by using a non standard logo to represent something that has a logo.

If you want to use the butterfly to say my software is endorsed by MorphOS should should get their permision first.

Their permission to use a picture of a morpho butterfly? That sounds silly.

I don't think you read what I wrote very closely.

@broadblues

I just don't get what you mean by "endorsed by MorphOS", something akin to "this software has been tested and approved by members of the MorphOS team"? I am pretty sure that this is not how it works :)

@Templario

To me MorphOS is the blue boing ball. Not just any silly butterfly.

No, then its just a blue boing ball.

An animated morpho butterfly would be appropriate.

But as the initial logo is on a MorphOS startup screen for a very short time, animating it seems pointless.

Actually I see it other places these days:

Amiga On The Lake

A-Eon Open Source used it as well
