@Daytona675x

I think the case is closed for me... you will look at future 68k hardware and evaluate it and then decide if it is interesting or not. MESA/Gallium is too slow on 68k (only Wazp3D/Stormmesa is interesting, at least on fast hardware). ARM might be more interesting for future support (next to X86). I do not know how much work you would have to invest to add more support.

To those who don't follow the development diary too often:
it's model-conversion and -optimization time
I just put some new screenshots online, more to come for each new model. First I'm going to finish up the conversion tool though. Today I'll add an automatic optimize-model-for-iso-view command

@Daytona675x

Thanks a lot for the screenshots & diary. Screenshots look awesome.

It's great to have such kind of developement in the world of Amiga.

Have you ever been asked by Hyperion or A-EON to work for them?

Thanks and de nada

Hyperion? Yes. Member of the os4 dev team since some months, concentrating on W3D R200/R100, fixed some stuff so far. At the moment I don't have much time left to contribute though. I'm experimenting on improving that driver in parallel to the Wings development but that's all still far from being usable in the real world / commitable.
A-EON: No.

Ordered ages ago and found the original too. Lucky if work with Amiga. In the Year 199x asked for work. My email was not pr@... Was from a car register plate at the times: SEX-303, very normal over here and a coincidense. (Your welcome from the laugh in the Great Big Apple Killer Company:)

Amiga said: You can not be serious with the e-mail You have. No work.
Was Young, driving and Amiga -doing all the time.

Better Off now with the own work. Can buy the new OS4.2 then with the earnigs.

For the XE, Please? It's so unemployed.

Thank a lot, of course it helps

@PR
Thanks! Yes, it should work just fine on your XE.

@all
Played around with my new 3D model format I came up with for Wings. Here's some bit-fiddle-fun for those who like that kind of stuff

@kyle
(two more weeks ™) * π
No, seriously: if all goes well as it does right now, then maybe mid/end march is realistic. That's what I wrote in the dev-diary too.
However there's one caveat, and that's the large number of levels. While the dogfight missions aren't critical the bombing and strafing missions are. The thing is that each and every level has to be tested and double-checked for correct object placement etc. And with some bad luck some (strafing) levels turn out to be too heavy for lower-end-machines so that I end up manually tuning those.
Therefore: don't nail me on that date above. If things turn out badly it may well be one month more at the end.

I just added a pretty detailed photo-session illustrating the model conversion process.
For more information also check out the diary's entries since yesterday

Cheers,
Daniel

@Daytona675x

I believe you invested to much work on the protective shield of the artillery piece.

Usually none of them where bent in more than one dimension.

You may take a look here:

@OneTimer1
Ah, no, luckily I didn't invest any work on designing those models
It's a port, the artwork has already been done by somebody else a year ago or so for the PC version of this game.
The only "modelling" I do is optimizing the objects by removing useless triangles (esp. for the strafing missions, where you see most objects from one direction only) and reducing the number of textures used, stuff like that, to make the game run fast enough on our systems.
For many aspects of this conversion / optimization tasks I wrote scripts or programs that do it (semi)automatical. This was much work indeed, but it pays off now.

Have fun,

@Daytona675x

Amazing development. Thanks a lot, it looks awesome.

About the strafing Level (just an idea, I'm absolutely happy with the game):

What about the cars (and near by houses) burning, so you can't fly into the flames - otherwise the airplane takes fire...

As said, it's just an idea which came to my mind - I have absoltutely nothing to critizise.

Thanks a lot for the great work. It's amazing to see this in "Amiga Land".

@Daytona675x

Awesome progress.

I really, really want this, but at 55 USD it's over the duty free import limit and I'll end up paying another 14 USD in norwegian VAT plus about 20 USD processing fee. 80USD for a game when my Sam460 isn't even set up correctly to play it is a bit of a stretch for me
