| Hi All Do anyone know of a way to have switching system from a real floppy drive to the HCX floppy emulator drive on the internal port of the a1200 system,
what I mean is my current configure is df0 is a really drive and df1 on the same internal port is my HCX floppy emulator which work well, but how ever if I want to play floppy games then the HCX floppy emulator needs to be df0 not df1 as most games only work off df0
so is there a way to make a switch which I can switch between a real floppy drive and the HCX floppy emulator as df0 and hook a switch on the front of my tower case to switch between the 2 drives?

| Why not disconnect df0: what drive does that assign to the HXC? If you still want a real Amiga drive, use an external. On PCs the 2 head floppy cable had some crossover to determine which drive was which. Don't know if that works with Amiga's floppy interface. _________________ Amiga A1200, 3.1 ROMs, Blizzard 1230 MKIV 64MB & FPU, 4GB DoM SSD, Workbench 3.1 |

I would have thought this was a lot of work, but apparently the A500 and the A2000 is wired the same way, so both SEL0 and SEL1 are on the internal 34 pin connector. Use a DPDT switch to select straight or swapped select pins, just follow this (but use a smaller DPDT):
http://www.instructables.com/id/HOW-TO%3A-Wire-a-DPDT-rocker-switch-for-reversing-po/
Then you obviously need to wire pin 10 pin 10 on one drive and pin 12 to pin 10 on the other. Possibly a crossed PC floppy cable will work, but I'm not 100% sure.
If your Amiga drive has a DS or SEL jumper, this can be used instead of crossing the wires in the previous paragraph. Last edited by olegil on 29-Apr-2016 at 10:52 AM.

thanks for the feedback but I am not sure if you understand me
what I am going to do is a pcb for my hcx floppy drive and my real drive to switch between them as df0 only not df1 _________________

Why on earth would you NOT want to have a df1 using the other drive? Considering the cost difference between a SPDT and a DPDT switch is literally sweet fanny adams. _________________ This weeks pet peeve: Using "voltage" instead of "potential", which leads to inventing new words like "amperage" instead of "current" (I, measured in A) or possible "charge" (amperehours, Ah or Coulomb, C). as because there is no MTR line on the internal port for df1 only df0 which means the motor on the df1 drive will not spin that is why Last edited by amigat on 29-Apr-2016 at 09:11 PM.

But an A2000 supports two floppies and I can only find one MTR signal on the 34 pin connector there as well. _________________ This weeks pet peeve: Using "voltage" instead of "potential", which leads to inventing new words like "amperage" instead of "current" (I, measured in A) or possible "charge" (amperehours, Ah or Coulomb, C). Can you configure it so that HCX is on DF0 and actual drive is on DF1? If that at all helped. |

Have you tried booting from df1 using the early start-up menu? _________________ Amiga A1200, 3.1 ROMs, Blizzard 1230 MKIV 64MB & FPU, 4GB DoM SSD, Workbench 3.1 |

Yeah, that seems about right for what he insists he wants (except I would still like to say that it would make more sense to SWAP them, so both are available in both settings, not just one at a time). _________________ This weeks pet peeve: Using "voltage" instead of "potential", which leads to inventing new words like "amperage" instead of "current" (I, measured in A) or possible "charge" (amperehours, Ah or Coulomb, C). Buying an experimental board from you versus buying a finished product from Amigakit if it's gonna do EXACTLY the same thing? Don't bet on it. Unless you actually want to make it BETTER by incorporating my suggestions, don't bother. Spend your money and time on something more worth while _________________ This weeks pet peeve: Using "voltage" instead of "potential", which leads to inventing new words like "amperage" instead of "current" (I, measured in A) or possible "charge" (amperehours, Ah or Coulomb, C).
