In the context that it looks and acts the same as always. And still uses commodites to add extra features in places. Of course it's not exactly the same as it was before, just hasn't had a huge overhaul yet. |

Interesting.
It looks like you are (were?) a betatester. Have you looked at the Workbench.lib release notes on your hard drive?? Looks like it's been quite thoroughly worked on - something like 160 releases since 2002, including a complete port to native PowerPC.
hmmmm...
I wonder when changing something had anything to do with copyright ownership. If someone owns and defends the rights, that's about the end of it till they time out, AFAIK.
Seems like the point of this thread that people that put their time/dollars into creating/obtaining copyrighted material "should" just give it away because others simply want it?

In six months the copyright strike will expire and you will get your YouTube features back.
Back in October 2014 I have been #Microstopped by Microsoft. In one of my videos, where I was activating an Windows 8 machine, Microsoft DMCA'ed it and my channel received a copyright strike. I was not revealing any code or something, they just did it automatically on thousand of videos, to stop people getting hacked codes or something. Later Microsoft retracted the DMCA and all my channel features were restored, but I deleted the video anyway.
Copyright is a complex issue. I had hundreds of claims on my videos, including claims from random agencies on public domain songs and very often invalid claims - most of them released. Still from time to time random claimants appear from nowhere, but that's the risk of uploading content on YouTube. Some agencies reconfirm their claims on Public Domain song recordings, which confirms that their workers are just plain lazy and didn't look deeply on what they claim or not.
Disclaimer: I own the necessary rights for my uploads on YouTube.

Trouble is I got two strikes in space of a few hours so that means the strikes wont be removed until May 21, 2017, and if I get one more strike its, bye, bye channel.
Again its partly my own fault for uploading content I didn't have rights to, but again the purpose of the channel was to promote and show off how advance the Amiga was in the 80s, I personally believe they should be in the public domain, but that fight is for another day.
Again I think Cloanto has been very fair and understanding in this case and I think where unaware of what a strike can do to a channel, I hope that some good can come out of this and the question of Amiga media being on the net can now be worked out for future.

How it's "partly your fault" if YOU upload material which you don't own. I guess it puts you above the law if you do it "For Amiga!". |

All these video in there day where made to promote the Amiga, many of them are commercials, Commodore would pay people to runs these adverts, I guess how time change.
I like how holy thy now you seem, I guess you never broken a copyright law in your life. I been caught red handed and cant really defend myself and owning up to the responsibility. Cloanto luckily understand this, lets just leave it at that.

And still you try to pass the blame by saying that you are only partly to blame.
And while you start "You did it too back in the day!"... Most of didn't try to cash out with it.

Yes I am a betatester. I've seen the notes. My point wasn't actual changes, my point was that it looks and acts the same, which is what I said. It relies on commodities still to add features like context menus and still doesn't multitask like it should in todays age.

I suppose it seems that way. But the people who created it have moved on and the material is obsolete. Yet are they reimbursed from the current copyright holder? Regardless, what is needed here is permission from the current owner. That or financial incentive to use the work. |

yep, just for the record, the matter has been sorted, strikes have been removed, all current videos are ok, but to not to upload any more clips from Commodore Amiga videos, its a shame, but glad Cloanto were not too harsh. _________________ AmigaNG, YouTube, LeaveReality Studio |
